McCarthy is from Pittsburgh, but he's never coached in the organization and has zero ties to the Steelers other than being born in the area.

Mike Tomlin born in Hampton Virginia.

Dan Marino QB'd at Pitt, Shady McCoy was a RB at Pitt Revis was from Alliquippa

Where are you getting that the Steelers only hire from within or people associated with Pittsburgh or the Steelers?

The McCarthy hire is terrible. It's the Rooney's having no idea where this team is from a competitive standpoint.

Good coleslaw deserves to be enjoyed on its own, and I'm not much of a fry man, I like them hot, fresh and crisp with catsup, not smashed and soggy on a bun.

Actually, I much more prefer a good onion ring. Never on a sandwich.

Frankly, I'm just not much of a potato guy, except au gratin, scalloped, or stuffed with chives and sour onion.

I'm in the minority but I think hiring McCarthy was an excellent move. He's a proven winner, more offensively oriented - Tomlin's offense was like Woody Hayes' in the 1950s - he's an adult and will do a good job for the next 5 years or so. And I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the Steelers further than they've been in quite some time.
