Lions Rudely Ejected From Playoffs!

Stafford played TB? on a recent night TV game. He dropped balls in trash cans on time from 30-40 yards over and over right into full speed WR.

I've never seen a QB play better with masterful touch. I'm sure others here saw that performance.

Miss the point more. Mac Jones sucks he’s the worst QB to ever wear a football uniform ever at any level. Also Brock Purdy is still overpaid.

Sure thing, champ.

You said that Mac Jones has played as well as Purdy. That’s clearly not true.

Is Patrick Mahomes underpaid compared to what the rest of the league pays quarterbacks? Do the Chiefs have extra money to go toward the rest of their roster? And they still miss the playoffs? Hmmm, what’s up with that?

How many SB have they won?

Stafford is playing incredibly well. I don’t see how he doesn’t take the MVP award.

Mac Jones is OK at least? Did OK filling in. Almost an argument to be the starter going forward?

It's what have you done lately. Not 5 yrs ago with Bellicheck treating you like dirt.

So what happened this year?

Would you agree that they have a REALLY nice discount on Mahomes? They were able to save lots of money on him, use it on the rest of the roster, and they STILL couldn’t even make it to the playoffs?

What’s the deal with that?

They had a bad year. What does that have to do with whether Purdy is over paid or not? Stop deflecting.

I've already explained my thoughts on the quarterback market. It could certainly be argued that Purdy is over paid, and I wouldn't necessarily disagree. I think the entire quarterback market makes little sense. Here are a few things that I think we all should be able to agree on:

1) Purdy certainly shouldn't be making more money than Mahomes.

2) Mahomes should be the highest paid quarterback.

3) The Chiefs have a really nice advantage over the rest of the league because of the huge discount they're getting on their quarterback.

Do we agree on 1, 2, 3?

The fact that the Chiefs, despite this huge advantage over the rest of the league, couldn't even get into the playoffs, is pretty ******* pathetic. That's not just a bad year. That's a complete disaster.

You brought up Purdy's record against playoff-caliber teams. How has Mahomes done against playoff caliber teams this year? Lost to the Chargers, lost to the Eagles, win against the Ravens (Lamar Jackson hurt in 3rd quarter), lost to the Jaguars, lost to the Bills, lost to the Broncos, lost to the Texans, lost to the Chargers. That's 1-7. Hmmmm, not very impressive by your guy.

I would agree with 1. Im a bit skeptical of 2 and I believe (and I could be wrong) that the adjust Mahomes' contract so that he gets paid more each year, and he ends up making the most. I dont remember where I heard it, first things first probably since Nick Wright is such a Chiefs homer but I believe what I said is the case, which would call 3 into question. If 2 is true than 3 is as well to your point though.

Maybe this is what I was thinking of?

Either way I dont know that his value is higher than Josh Allen. He's achieved more but Im not convinced he means more to his team than Allen and thus his value would be lower if that make sense.

All that said we have to go with what the market is not what it should be and how the Chiefs have done this year has zero to do with whether Purdy is overpaid or not, so my previous question stands. Of that list which QB's who are you taking Purdy instead of if you are starting a team. Assume the salary cap didn't exist so its just who's more talented.

If that’s true that Mahomes is the highest paid player this year due to a restructured contract, then it’s also true that he vastly under-performed.

You brought up Purdy’s performance against playoff-caliber teams. He’s 2-1, with his only loss being while he was hurt (which only seems to matter if it’s not Purdy). Mac Jones is 1-3. Your guy is 1-7.

So let me see if I have this correct…

Purdy is criticized for going 2-1, Mac Jones is just as good as Purdy for going 1-3. And your guy is amazing for being 1-7. You’re the one who brought this up. Maybe you should try being at least somewhat consistent about it. Your guy shit the bed this year.

Trying to make sense of it, I think the quarterback market is about paying guys who could lead the team to a championship victory. Oladokun (who?) gets a fraction of what Mahomes gets paid, and if you took the money saved from Mahomes’ contract to play Oladokun and bolster the rest of the roster, Oladokun couldn’t do much worse than Mahomes’ shitty 1-7 record against playoff-caliber teams this year. But Mahomes gives them a legitimate chance at a SB win that Oladokun does not. I don’t think it’s realistic for Oladokun to Trent Dilfer his way to a SB win. I would say the same about Purdy/Jones. Mac Jones would be more of a Trent Dilfer in my opinion. It’s possible, but he would need an amazing supporting cast and even then, it’s very unlikely. Purdy is well above that, hence why the bigger salary.

I don’t entirely agree with that line of thinking because I still think that position is over-inflated. But it is what it is.

Who's "my guy"? If you mean the Chiefs I dont know how many times I have to tell you I'm a Steeler fan. But even if I were a Chiefs fan this isnt about Mahomes or the Chiefs. Please try to stay on topic.

I'll say it once more. Mac Jones isnt as good as Purdy. Can we move on? Also Im not a Chiefs fan.

The discussion is if Purdy is overpaid relative to the other QB's in the NFL based on his talent level. Are you refusing to stay on topic because your holding onto a position you cant actually defend?
