thanks trotsky for interpreting my intent to we common folk,The OPs thread speaks to an even deeper problem.
With the rise of talk radio, the Republican Party started doing a massive outreach program to low-information voters who generally lacked a solid college education.
The GOP pulled these people in using religion, patriotism, national security, and the culture war. They appealed to values rather than policy (which works better for people that don't have the time and required literacy to understand complex trade policies or complex geopolitical issues).
The group targeted by the GOP also feels left behind by a changing world that doesn't include them. They've watched America go from its powerful postwar dominance (with a majority white population that enjoyed upward mobility) to a multiracial nation where they can't get ahead.
The GOP gives these angry white people a political home, along with a nice long list of scapegoats.
The only thing these people know is that they want their country back, but they lack the policy knowledge to get there. So they vote on attitude over substance.
Trump - a man who knows dangerous little policy - gives them attitude. He speaks to their carefully crafted anti-government anger. He gives them their Mexican and Muslim scapegoats. He talks tough. He has attitude. These voters don't know policy and they can't tell you the difference between a Sunni and Shiite. They can't tell you the first thing about the Syrian Civil War. They just want a tough, straight talking "Dear Leader" to fix it.
They are well meaning, but they are stupid. They are going to destroy this country with a Cruz/Trump ticket.
The Republican investment in low-information voters had come home to roost.
If you think Bush destroyed the economy and left the Middle East as an unstable nightmare, you ain't seen nothing yet.
The real demagogues are coming.
but what do i know as someone who feels targeted, and left behind, i ain't edgimucated lok you, but ahh schooled right thru that sixth grade....ya gnu !
