If I was in government, trade tariffs would be in place with the EU on all products. I would remove the privatisation that Tony Blair put into the NHS. I would up military spending by billions, especially in British waters. If any EU country wants to fish in UK waters, they need a valid licence that will cost millions. Anyone breaching that, the crew will be jailed and their boat sunk. Home office staff, border control staff would have a ten fold increase in resources. Foreign aid would be scrapped and welfare massively reduced. Welfare will be linked to what you've paid into the system. Then I would order government departments to vastly reduce the tax burden on the public. I would like to see a PAYG society. EV's will be taxed per mile and buying grants/incentives for them scrapped. I would sign off a sufficient number of nuclear plants and scrap useless renewables.

Then it morphed into the EU, telling you who you had to have, who you couldn't kick out, forcing directives onto countries. Then they want more integration, eventually having one EU member state government, where every countries governments basically just become like local council offices.

You may want to live in that kind of dictatorship, but the slight majority didn't. Yes, the House of Lords are not elected by the public, but I prefer to be governed by the people I vote for, I don't vote for them to receive their orders off overpaid EU arseholes in Brussels.

From the very very very start, I said do not have lockdowns. Even if it meant doubling the death rate from 0.1% of the population to 0.2%, that's much better then would would happen from results of lockdowns. The biggest one is health, all the missed cancer screenings is killing a predicted 8,000+ people. The high inflation reduces people's health due to poorer diet, resulting in more deaths. Blimey, somewhere in this forum or some others, I posted a link some 2 or 3 years ago where the prediction was more longer term deaths from lockdowns than from COVID itself. And here we are, a burke claiming it"s Brexit. On top of that, the Ukraine war has doubly impacted inflation.

Just move on, we left the EU, stop ******* twinning, blaming that everything is due to Brexit. If you fell off your ladder, Brexit didn't cause it. Just belt up and grow up.

So if you give everyone a heating allowance, it doesn't cover basic needs and thus there's still no disposable income to drive the economy to increase tax revenue income to the government. Government expenditure should never be used to pay people's needs, such Socialism increase national debt. Even before COVID, the interest on the national debt was greater than the NHS wage bill.

No, vat on heating fuel was 0%, the EU placed a 5% vat rate to channel that income into the renewable infrastructure.

But now, the UK could scrap the 5%, there was talk about this just a few years ago but it was left in place. No doubt it was left to try and offset our spiraling debt.
