For me to know and you not to find out.
OK, here's the deal. My brother wrote a beautiful song dedicated to our dad, who passed away in January. We didn't record it together and he only had a cursory bassline for it. Me being the bass expert in the family put one together and we performed the song for our dad's memorial this last Saturday. He likes my bassline so much he wants me to send him an audio copy so he can use it when he reedits his song.
So, the question for the technogeeks is this: Using a Gallien-Kruger Plex preamp, can I tie my bass into my PC which has a recording app installed, using an aux cable and patching into the aux jack on the preamp and mic jack on the PC?

Well, the Plex has both line level analog out (3.5mm?) and balanced XLR, plus 1/4" phone, you do not say if your PC has a line-level analog in, digital PCM in or whatever, but it sounds to me like it should work so long as you mate compatible ports of the Plex to whatever your PC takes as input.

Since the Plex looks to have most any provision needed, I'm pretty sure it can be mated to your PC. If you want to be sure, check the impedance and voltage level range of your PC mic input and check the specs for the aux output on the Plex and see if they are compatible.

For instance, if your PC mic input takes a 1/4" phone input (TRS) like most pro mics, then I would probably connect that to the 1/4" phone output on the top of the Plex, but not seeing or knowing anything about your PC or recording app, hard to say much more. Start with the output of the Plex low and turn it up as needed for maximum clarity unless and until the audio distorts. If the PC mic input distorts, then you know you are clipping the input. You don't want any output level higher than needed for the recorder to get a clear signal.

I have the 3.5mm mic input on the PC, so I would be utilizing the aux cable to tie in both the Plex and PC.
