I expect shifts both directions will occur in the future. But the Dem party is a complete mess right now, so I can't really see that next shift to the left happening until the Dems have something appealing to offer.

The tariffs are going just fine and providing a nice revenue boost to the U.S. The tariffs have not created the issues the left, and even some on the right, were predicting.
