Kim Davis to join the GOP...

There is hypocrisy and a blatant flaw in the logic of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who refused to issue gay marriage licenses, and of her supporters, particularly Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.

Davis isn’t acting as a citizen wishing to exercise her freedom of religion. She is acting as an agent of the government in trying to restrict those seeking marriage licenses from enjoying constitutionally guaranteed equality and exercising their freedom of religion.

she's not being ignored..she's being reprimanded and dealt the consequences of overstepping her legal bounds.

her religious freedom was never at risk..that is a pathetic lie pandered by overly emotional nitwits..like you..and jokabee

The article headline claims she " assumes her rightful place ... Republican Party " but that is NOT correct.

Her " rightful place " is in PRISON for Hate Crimes.

When bakers refused to make a wedding cake for gays the Justice Department filed hate crime charges.

Why haven't they filed hate crime charges on Davis? She denied people their civil rights because of her hate.

Kim and her husband Hillbilly Jim have switched parties

Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, a longtime Democrat, says she is switching to the Republican Party because she feels abandoned by Democrats in her crusade against same-sex marriage.

Davis made the announcement while in Washington, D.C., to attend the Family Research Council's Value Voters Summit, said Charla Bansley, a spokeswoman for Liberty Counsel, which represents Davis in her legal battles.

"I've always been a Democrat, but the party left me," Davis said, according to Bansley.

What bothers me most about this whole deal, is both sides are trying to crack a walnut with sledge hammers.

and ANYONE, or EITHER side given to thought to trying to work out a compromise that would make both sides happy?

Perhaps giving one of her assistants authority to sign the license that Mrs Davis is uncomfortable signing?

Would that be so hard?

Or is total capitulation and surrender required?

My right to stand in public and swing my fist ENDS when my fist contacts your face ( dammit I would love to do that ).

Her right to practice her religion ENDS when it conflicts with the rights of other people.

Religion DOES NOT TRUMP THE CONSTITUTION.

Yes the word " Creator " is in the Constitution, but not because this was founded as a Christian nation. In fact, most of the Founding Fathers were deists. They believed in a God but did not believe in organized religions. Many were agnostics or atheists.

that's already been ordered by the court, halfwit.

but that won't stop the wacky religious persecution crusade associated with her faux cause...

The judge OFFERED her several compromises before he put her in jail for Contempt of Court.

SHE REFUSED THEM ALL.

She was not interested in any kind of compromise.

She required total capitulation to her " religious principles "

Even now she objects to the situation and has sworn to resume denying licenses.

I think her lawyer told her to shut up and bide her time.

Two weeks from now the Talking Heads will have something else to rant about and she will resume her hate crimes and denying people their civil rights but nothing more will ever be said about it.

The queers will be lucky to escape that county with their lives.

It's Tennesse people. Where they go to church to handle rattle snakes to prove how God loves them and protects them because they are " born again ".

In small neighborhood churches with 25 members ... oops darn snake ... 24 .members .. oh no ... 23 members.

Folks - there are so many posts in this thread that violate the rules it's not worth the time it takes to clean. Please remember that this thread is in Politics. That means posts must include content related to the topic. While some banter is ok, it's gone beyond that here into deliberate derailing and spamming the same thing over and over.

Let's get BACK ON TOPIC and for those who can't remember it, I recommend you review Post #1.

Further derailments and no-content flaming will be dealt with accordingly.

I guess the dummies calling her a Democrat can rest their typing fingers now. She is finally switching parties BECAUSE of her stance on gay marriage.

If I may, let me then summarize the above:

Davis shows a lack of tolerance toward existing laws which is a requisite in implementing her elected position......

She then decides to join a party which supports her lack of tolerance and breach of existing laws.....

Ergo, the republican party is LESS tolerant and LESS law-abiding?

Just asking.......

Hatred begets hatred. Your views are hateful, just as much as theirs. You are equally as intolerant.

To be intolerant of those who are mired in intolerance is a virtue and I thank you for pointing that out.

I must point out, that if you want to claim to be tolerant, then you would be tolerant of those mired in intolerance, in other words, you wouldn't care. Each man and woman are entitled to their opinions. Neither you or I are in such a position to attempt to convince them of it.

Tolerance of other people's opinions is fine. Bigots are entitled to their bigoted mindsets. But tolerance does not extend to bigots who engage in conduct that harms other people.

Your comment sounds like you are saying that her elected position has a requisite of "lack of tolerance toward existing laws" - which is entirely false. Her elected position requires her to follow the law. So, yes, the Republican party is "less tolerant" and "less law-abiding". They certainly do not tolerate abortion which is legal, and same-sex marriage which is also legal. The fact that Davis is refusing to do her job shows she is less law-abiding and certainly not tolerant. Are Republicans not the ones cheering her on?

So what is your question exactly?

Hope you on the left are proud of yourselves.

You're chasing Democrats away from your party......and liberals know this is happening.....and they're doing everything they can to bring new, poor, immigrants into this country to fill their base.

Just further proof that Democrats can't expand their ranks through their policies unless they break the law.

When Obama decides to follow all of our laws instead of just the ones he likes....you'll have room to talk......but not until then.

At the same moment you say this...you're showing a lack of tolerance.

Go figure....

But this fake belief that Republicans are less law-abiding in this case.....especially since this woman is a Democrat, is totally unfounded. I suspect you're projecting her supposed sins unto the GOP, and that is dishonest.

We don't have to tolerate intolerance.

Yet you are a far left that is intolerant to anything not part of the far left religion..

The far left drones like yourself make bible thumpers look like they are the most open minded people on the planet..

Your statement only makes sense to an idiot.

We don't have to tolerate intolerance, including bigots using religion to be bigoted.

You disagree with the 1st Amendment?

You're free to be as big of an idiot as you like...no?

Think the day will ever come that I'll be as big an idiot as you?

Judging by your postings on this thread, you are in no position to call anyone an idiot.
