Happened in Mississippi...no one says no fraud ever happens. In this case 78% of a total of 84 ballots in one ward. Fraud happens in in-person elections as well. The point is - how far do you go to disenfranchise people in order to make elections secure?


Take Ballot Collection/Ballot Harvesting. Here is one real example.

This was a case from Arizona that involved two provisions. One barred counting a vote that was cast in the wrong precinct, and the other barred collection of absentee ballots. And in a state that has huge rural areas - for example, the Navajo Nation is 27,000 square miles. And many people live nowhere near a post office, live - don't have a mailbox. They're not on a postal route. And so barring collection by somebody other than a relative or a caregiver means - at least the civil rights groups claim it means that many people will not be able to vote because if they have to go to the polls, they don't have a car. There's no way to do it.​

In addition, areas like these reservations are among the most impoverished in the country. People don't have the means to travel a hundred miles to deliver a ballot. They rely on others. Instead of making it illegal, why not think outside the box and find ways to make it more secure instead of making it harder to vote? But the Republicans won't do that because their real aim is to suppress voting and bills like that are key.
