If diversity of citizens across any demographic identifiers, shares the core tenets of a nation, your Constitution, capitalism, work ethic, laws, belief system etc than it is inconsequential.

Diversity has never been our strength. The USA has aways been a melting pot taking immigrants and assimilating them into our unique culture. Our strength in the past was taking the best of immigrant's societies and ideas and incorporating them into ours. WE are much like the Romans in that sense. To translate the Latin; "out of many, one" not your idea of out of many, many, or worse still, out of one, many.

Pushed by the FIRST generation to assimilate in order to succeed. Without the social safety net, the first generation was busy trying to survive and raise the second generation that WOULD assimilate. Before Johnson's Great Society, immigrants were not allowed to access social services other than basic education.
