Johnson Admits That Shutdown Is About ACA Premiums

It’s SO bad that I know people in their 60s who are getting such a wonderful “deal” (I.e., other people pay for it) on Obamacare that they dread going on to Medicare.

Think about that. Middle-income people are paying less for health insurance than elderly on modest fixed incomes!
The people you know are lying to you, or you're lying.

AI Overview

To be eligible for ACA subsidies, individuals must have a household income between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), although temporary changes have removed the upper 400% cap for 2021-2025.

So the lies that it’s about anything else can stop

Letting the subsidies expire would cause a DOUBLING of premiums
So you admit the “Affordable Care Act” is a total sham and all it did was skyrocket health care costs.

Thanks for proving our point.

All this time the real costs of it have been hidden by Federal subsidies. Why do you guys still for giant pharmaceutical corporations so much? If this was a subsidy for gas you’d be screaming about it. (Of course I already know the answer but I do want to hear your response).

This would have been different if the GQP had said "we've been working with health insurers behind the scenes, they've been recalibrating their plans and premiums to match the new situation, and the people of America can rest easy about their health insurance".

But no, this is the "shoot first and ask questions later" administration. The above would require too much planning, effort and critical thinking.
Bull shit as usual.
The Dems did how much negotiating with insurance companies for the last 4 years knowing this sunset was coming????

Read your quote again, you dumb leftist: The 400% was orignally! Now they’ve removed that cap - as your quote says.

All we want is to go back to the 400%. Until we do, what I said is true: middle class on Obamacare is paying less than the elderly on fixed incomes pay for Medicare, to which they’ve contributed for 40 years.

How do you know the Dem's expectation wasn't that the subsidies would be extended?

The point of the post was to show "middle income" people don't qualify for ACA subsidies.

Horseshit. The idea was to reduce medical cost inflation (success) while insuring more people (success).
It hardly reduced medical cost. It drove it up even further.

And “insuring” people is a matter of semantics. When I was on Obamacare, I counted as “insured” - even though my premiums doubled and my deductible tripled to the point nothing was covered.

My plan before Ocare was superior, and cheaper.

You Dems are unbelievably ignorant.

If enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits expire, CBO and other analyses project that premiums could more than double on average in 2026.

Now that your misconception has been cleared up do you feel differently? Or is tens of thousands of people not being able to afford healthcare insurance a desirable result for you?

Of course you have to go to the Robots to get the answer you want.

They do NOW, with the increased premiums. You can earn $75,000 and still get subsidies!

In the meantime, the elderly are paying more for Medicare.

And then he didn’t even read it right. It clearly said that the 400% cap was removed, temporarily.

The Dems want to make it permanent so they can buy people’s votes.

Trump’s tax cuts were there temporarily too.

Removing the 400% cap makes sense.

Why are premiums so high to begin with?
Why is Obamacare dependent on tax credits over 50%?
Democrats said Obamacare was going to save people money on premiums, so when they gonna happen?

DEMOCRATS WITH OBAMACARE --- 2010:
"Free wonderful healthcare!!!"
* **

* At the expense of everyone else who will see there premiums rise and their deductibles nearly double.
** Also Premiums will skyrocket in 2025 if we don't continue to keep paying 100% of the cost for people who don't work.

DEMOCRATE IN 2025:
"REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO DOUBLE YOUR PREMIUMS!!!!!" *

* Because that is what we passed in 2010 as Democrats, hoping we would get all the free stuff for our bum voters and continue to pass on the cost to everyone else.

Wasn't obamadon'tcare functioning just fine before the Covid crisis subsidies?

As fine as it was going to get, yes.

The insanity of going back to the place that we were prior to Covid, right?

It's time to scrap the ACA, not subsidize it. It's an irredeemable failure.
You guys tried to do that years ago but you never had a better alternative.

Remember, Trump’s plan was due in “2 weeks”, but that was like 7 years ago.
