They make pretty close to the same now as they did 30 years ago...due to the illegals, wages have not increase, yet their responsibility has increased and they are now expected to actually provide their own tools AND sometimes they have to even provide the supplies they need to build the homes that are sold.....and these are the LEGAL Americans.......

I don't know ANY construction worker that makes what did you say? $70 an hour? They make far closer to $20 an hour, if they are lucky.

I don't know ANY construction worker that makes what did you say? $70 an hour? They make far closer to $20 an hour, if they are lucky.

NYC is very expensive and good union jobs pay very well, if you work on a crane that is used to construct high rise buildings you make great money.

actually my brother owns a contruction company and my brother is a framer in Washington state and they do make more than they did 30 years ago, my family has been in contruction for 50 years. My brother has a licensed framer was probably making close to $60,000 if not more a year before the housing market went to shit. He has never had to buy the materials, my brother who owns the company did that. Yes he did have to buy his own tools, for one he was licensed and doesn't always work for the same person. They also get to write off the tools as a business expense.
I have also had my SSN used by an illegal contruction worker, the company he worked for did nothing about it. Instead of blaming Jose Illegal, why don't we blame the people who give him the job.

The illegals, as you call them, that I worked with before immigration laws got harsher all had Social Security numbers they had paid big bucks for to some criminal. They all paid FICA and taxes too. Only they will never be able to collect their Social Security.
