You will find very few lawyers that would recommend that the accused testify on his or her own behalf. It's standard legal advice.

Do you judge the GOP by the same standards? The Clintons lost money in Whitewater and they still got investigated by Congress. How many other investigations were there? Travelgate, Benghazi, email server, etc. Trump has set the new standard, never testify before Congress. Bill might not have been impeached Hillary's deed would never come to light and she might be serving her 2nd term right now.

The committee subpoena withdrawal is for the courts resources benefit. For that reason, and that reason alone, Thompson withdrew it.

The one that Jack Smith will be sending him comes with actual legal weight, including the US Marshall’s can come to Mar A Lago, and drag his fat orange ass straight to jail for not complying.

But Trump being the whimpering coward that he is, will quickly comply, whining all the way to the courthouse begging for bail, so he can stay at home during the trial.

In Trumps case though, he will be forced to surrender his passport, and may have to wear an ankle bracelet.

First thing should be done in any case involving Trump is a gag order... He has too many times commented on judges, prosecutors or witnesses during a case... This IMHO is interfering and thus obstructing justice...
