As stated, this has been asked and answered many times. The 2.4 million projection was based on continuing business as normal. But that number of deaths would be the death of the medical community trying to handle it. So the governors stepped up and introduced measures to "flatten the curve" and cut the deaths from 2.4 million to 120,000.

As responded, this has been asked AND DODGED many times.
