If Trump Makes it Official Policy not to Defend Countries that Don't Pay their Share, what do You Imagine the Outcome will be?

how do they pay up? Isn't the request for each country to spend at least 2% of their year!y spending budget, on their own defense budget? Or is it each country has to put 2% in to some sort of fund solely for NATO?
Too, for many of them, all their defence spending will be NATO aligned, Germany for example, Finland also. Whereas the empire states are diverting part of that percentage of gdp from NATO oriented goals to purely national interests.

2% is just a hook on which to hang rhetoric Trump has found gets a response. There's a reason he loves the uneducated...

First of all because the Ruskies won't know whether Trump is bluffing or not. He talks out of his ass a lot, which gives his critics ammunition*, but also confuses friend and foe alike, putting the U.S. in better bargaining positions.
Your post is solely for MAGA's and plain idiots.

Anyone familiar with NATO military issues, is aware of the fact, that Russia does not have any credible means to attack the European NATO and to survive such an attack - neither militarily nor politically. (They can't even find and fight their way through Ukraine).

The only issue pertaining to the USA in the event of a Russian attack is the US nuclear umbrella, and anyone familiar with NATO knows that the USA will NEVER get their territory involved in a nuclear confrontation with Russia, due to a European NATO member being attacked.
As such the European NATO - doesn't need the USA at all. And are therefore paying app. US$ 370 billion/annually for their very own security.

Whilst Russia isn't even able to scratch up more then US$ 60 Billion for their own Armed Forces.

During the Cold War - both the USA and Europe needed NATO - and since latest 1991 the European NATO doesn't need the USA.
So feel free to pack your bags and go home - the only ones whining, will be those Europeans who live off the US Forces. Aka renting apartments to them, and/or being employed by the US Forces. A totally insignificant % and contributing factor in regards to e.g. Germany.

Trump has "publicly" informed Putin - that a USA under Trump would "permit" even "encourage" Russia to attack a NATO member. Therefore the European NATO could tell Putin - feel free to attack the USA, we will watch.

As such MAGA's and others are supporting a "lunatic idiot", if they express support towards Trump.

There'd be a bit of whining from the Pentagon too, I expect. European airfields and harbours are useful for projecting force.

Do any of you seriously believe that what will happen is that Russia will look at this list of countries by % GDP Spent on defense:

and immediately invade them, starting at the bottom of the list? That is seriously what you think will happen?

You think that will be the outcome, because the nations that are spending less will stubbornly refuse to increase their spending, and in fact would prefer a Russian invasion to giving into the Bad Orange Man? That is your real prediction of what will happen?

It won't. Of course not. Unless you are a complete idiot, you know that.

First of all because the Ruskies won't know whether Trump is bluffing or not. He talks out of his ass a lot, which gives his critics ammunition*, but also confuses friend and foe alike, putting the U.S. in better bargaining positions.

The deadbeat nations also won't know whether he is bluffing or not. So they will have the incentive to start spending more.

Canada spends 1.38%? Man that is bullcorn! Rich as they are, and they just want Uncle Sam to protect them, while they spend their money on bilingual signs and pamphlets explaining why bacon is really round?

To heck with that!
I imagine NATO members will be somewhat pissed and retaliate when the opportunity presents itself.

It's a nothing burger... Trump never did anything when he was in office about it for the years there, but mouth off like a child.....making noise so his followers have their daily bedtime story.... Of him being a super hero or savior and lord.

The only reason he brought it up again was to signal to Putin that he's got Putin's back if elected,

and most important it was saying....

PUTIN.....you need to help me, get elected again, like you did in 2016....and I will reward you!

Trump is a shock jock. He just runs his mouth.

I imagine Luxembourg wouldn't have to spend much on their navy!

If the US cut it's military spending by 85%, it would still have the biggest military budget in the world. Just a thought, why doesn't America tweak it's military spending down a little, not one country is asking America to spend so much of it's GDP on it's military.

Look at Germany....
They are one of the chief financial components of the Euro and the EU....

They are literally wallowing in cash....but instead of spending the money on defense they have spent it on anything and everything else. They should have a larger and better equipped Army than Poland with the billions of Euros....
But now Poland is carrying their water?

A treaty is just that....an agreement of performance by all sides. And if one party is not holding up their part then the treaty is scrapped and broken. Wars have broken out for less.
Germany and the others need to get their heads out of their butts and fix this quick....
Luxembourg? That's Russia anyway....who cares....they will be the cannon fodder of spies for Russia anyway....

Nothing. Russia and Putin have NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in invading over other nations, unless provoked

Somehow, your lengthy and insulting post does not convince me that it would be fun to die in a nuclear holocaust along with the deadbeat gaylords of Europe.

Especially the part about how Europe won't protect us from Russia. You really thought that ever happen?

Provoked? You mean not dancing to Putin's tune and get weird ideas such as that they have as much right to self interest as Russia? Why is it other sovereign nations problem that Putin got it into his head that he's another Peter the Great.

Well, there ya go!

Well posted!

Canada needs to get it up to 2% like they agreed. I know those syrup eaters think they are the safest, but their western edge is too close to Russia for them to blow off their protectors.
