As for border security, with illegal crossings at a 70 year low, and drugs coming in at legal crossings, there is no indication that an increase in border security is needed, and Trump offers no proof that it is.

Trump needed to reject it. It didn't have wall funding. The shutdown will go on forever unless the dems negotiate in good faith. Neither side has 51% of the budget, they need to compromise. McConnell will pass the senate version of the Budget this week with wall funding. The Budget process demands reconciliation. That takes Trump out of the next loop.

The reconciliation bin for this should be the trash can. We know that McConnell is a puppet of Trump. This does nothing except make it the Trump/McConnell shutdown. The budget process does not require anything of the kind. No reconciliation was done with the previous bill the Republican House passed.
