There are multiple examples, too many to list, of ordinary and influential Russians who don't support this war. Even a Russian tennis player wrote "No War Please" on a TV camera after winning his match in Dubai.

At this point, Putin's gamble is looking like a terrible miscalculation, with the only widespread support he is receiving is from FOX News, former President Trump, Mike Pompeo, and many American conservatives. The rest of the world stands united with Ukraine.

Most Russians are opposed to Putin, and have been since his placement into the Kremlin.
They don't like his 1950's attitude towards the world and its people. They were happy with Gorbachev, as he allowed the country to become updated with the rest of the world. Putin is hellbent on reversing it all for some reason.

You should have lived in the U.S. in 2003. Republicans all supported invading Iraq.
I guess you missed Saddam's sons' rape rooms, his murders by way of maiming and killing landmines for vapid reasons, and his murdering 30 villages of ethnic minorities with sarin gas throughout Iraq, killing thousands of his fellow Iraquis, His invasion of Kuwait, who never interfered with him at all, leaving 10,000 or more dead in his neighbor's land; his systematic murders of his neighbors in Iran over a 25-square mile coastline that belonged to Iran, his killing of entire families of people whose bodies were displayed in various exposed ways on fences if a cousin said something bad about Saddam or any one of his children or wifes, his murders of most of the men who were representatives in Iraq's congress when he took office by military means. When good men do nothing, bad things happen in human lifes, Mr. Odanny.

Remember that there were massive protests against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars here back in the 2000's, and they accomplished nothing. Putin might not have to care about the protests in the long run.

Saddam was a brutal dictator, but it was worse after we invaded. Much, much worse, far worse than anything that happened under Saddam. For many years he was our guy against Iran, and we provided him with deadly weapons that killed many Iranians.

Is it our responsibility to topple dictatorships? Should we go to war in Ukraine to stop Putin? Iraq was a terrible, terrible mistake, wholly unwarranted, and based on the same kind of lies that Putin is spewing about his war.

Well, Putin and his cronies are very rich while Russia is poor. The poor do the fighting and dying.

I had the unique honor of reading Clinton's Secretary of State Madeline Albright's official website notes on Iraq. She called for intervention in Iraq. That didn't happen under somewhat myopic Bill Clinton's 8 years in office. Justice came in George W. Bush's administration. He wanted to make sure no future President of the United States of America would ever again be the target of Saddam Hussein, but fortunately, Hussein's fate was given to the judiciary in Iraq, and they decided to execute him with dignity. If you knew the details of his murder/rapes, you'd realize a dignified execution was hardly punishment compared to his malicious torture/murders as wicked as those of other mass torture/murderers on this planet.

Odanny, wise up and quit thinking on an elementary level. What's going on in the Ukraine right now is mass homocide of a foreign country since the Ukraine is a sovereign state in this world. Russia is shilling for a killing, crusing for a bruising and aching for a breaking, except there's not one person in Biden's administration advocating help, and Biden viciously and under the table is funding Russia's war by paying him royally for natural gas that was to have been supplied by former President Donald Trump in the building of a pipeline from Canada into the United States killed by Biden out of groupthink TDS and nothing else. Pelosi is getting rich off her insider trading, and Hillary Clinton is ruling the Deep State, displacing her husband, former President Clinton who was too busy using his oval office for scandalous advantage-taking of women. That's why nothing was done about Madeline Albright's notes apparently to the wind since Clinton elected to continue his womanizing rather than getting into the details of leadership of the free world that a President of the United States is elected to be until Clinton changed things to the very worst imaginable changing life of impresionable teenagers to believe there role was to be proud of being a womanizer.

You're arguing two things: Saddam's viciousness, and your hatred of Democrats. While I respect your opinion, neither has to do with justifying an invasion of Iraq. Madeline Albright calling for an invasion/occupation, as you say, would be just as wrong as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were. And just as wrong as Joe Biden would be in calling for troops to move into Ukraine and fight the Russians.

You should have read Madeline Albright, who was the Clinton era Secretary of State, because her online documentation of Saddam Hussein's rape room, history of murdering Iraqi representatives who he didn't like the looks of, and anyone else he whimmed deserving of assassination including his assassination attempt of U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and the extended families of his Iraqui opponents and critics alike were brutally tortured, wives gang raped, and children dismembered were done for the objectionable pleasure of Saddam Hussein by his henchmen who enjoyed drinking other people's blood. :cranky: Buster, there's a lot of stupid around here that I can't fix.

I don't hate Democrats. I do hate what their deep state does when it's against the Constitution and traditional courtesies that have been thoroughly pissed on by the current House Speaker who speaks for the criminal underworld, not workaday people of America as a whole. Your lust for them to have power is minor compared to their omeurta secrecy that is not in conformity with the Constitution of the United States of America. And Biden is not only confused, he's likes being pushed around by his powerful colleagues. I hold his dementia responsible for his inability to remember who he is and what is expected from a POTUS. He had a real party opening the borders because it was money in his covetous pockets, and it was a lot more expedient to extort money as POTUS than VPOTUS. He cannot face what he has made of himself and it makes decent people wanna hurl.

Iraq was an incompetent blunder. Iraq was crippled by two decades of war and sanctions. But, clean break strategy and the PNAC letter to Clinton demanded getting rid of Saddam. Madeline Albright was wrong.... Trump wanted our European allies to pay twice as much for natural gas and invest billions in infrastructure to receive and store US natural gas.... They executed Saddam Hussein for doing what Churchill did in 1920.
