Well, thanks for at least admitting that. But here's the thing. The word humane means: characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people or animals. There is nothing compassionate about killing someone who desperately doesn't want to be killed. Namely when it completely unnecessary.
Also, a lot of people assume that in the animal industries, the animals are treated as "humanely" as possible. But that couldn't be further from the truth. These industries view animals as mere commodities, not living beings that are no different than a beloved dog or cat. And to these industries, time is money. So because everything in fast moving in slaughterhouses, they don't have the time or care to do everything in a less brutal way.
For example, with the electrical stunning of pigs, research has shown that up to 31% of the time the stunning fails and the pig is fully conscious at the time of slaughter, when they are hung upside down, their throat is slit and they bleed to death.
As I've said a bajillion times, pigs are highly intelligent and social animals, just like dogs. They are ranked even smarter than dogs.
Imagine this. How would you feel about your dog being in a scenario that causes so much fear and horror that your dog is literally shaking? And then your dog experiencing pain and suffering as he dies a brutal death... when it is completely unnecessary? If you oppose that (which I'm sure you would) why would you support that same scenario for a pig? Again pigs are no different than dogs or cats in all the ways that matter. As the Leo Tolstoy quote below says....it's nothing but societal conditioning that causes people to love dogs and cats and be completely apathetic toward pigs, cows, etc.
