I don't think that educating someone means getting them to believe exactly the same things I do. I think we all need to educate ourselves as to what the truth is. We hear and see so much that is sensationalized and given to us with a particular slant so that we tend to believe what it was supposed to make us believe.
I believe throughout our history there have been many official governmentally tolerated laws that promoted racism. Today, although some do not sound racist because of the carefully chosen wording, they are meant to have negative impacts on certain groups. Although there are real estate laws that supposedly prevent discrimination in the housing market, there are many examples of realtors simply not showing houses to people of color. Although there are laws regarding equality of education, many inner city schools are underfunded and I know a man who has confronted the legislators in his state because they have a "fair funding system" in place but they have refused to use it in inner city schools.

"Some crimes were specifically defined as felonies with the goal of eliminating Blacks from the electorate."
I am afraid that because our government is mostly still run by very wealthy individuals, they tolerate anything that keeps them in money and power.

Of course individuals make bad decisions and I may disagree with them, but sometimes evidence is doctored to make things look a certain way. I know many many folks who vote democratic, and if they thought for a minute that the nonsense the party is being accused of in the press was true, they would leave the party. They are moral, decent people who believe in democracy.

From his speech Saturday night in Florence, Arizona:
TRUMP: “The left is now rationing lifesaving therapeutics based on race, discriminating against and denigrating ... white people to determine who lives and who dies. If you’re white you don’t get the vaccine or if you’re white you don’t get therapeutics. ... In New York state, if you’re white, you have to go to the back of the line to get medical health.”
THE FACTS: No, white people are not being excluded from vaccines, of which there is a plentiful supply. And there is no evidence they being sent to the “back of the line” for COVID-19 care as a matter of public health policy.
Trump distorted a New York policy that allows for race to be one consideration when dispensing oral antiviral treatments, which are in limited supply. The policy attempts to steer those treatments to people at the most risk of severe disease from the coronavirus.
It says that nonwhite race or Hispanic ethnicity “should be considered a risk factor” because long-
standing health and social inequities make people of color more likely to get severely ill or die from the virus.
Trump extrapolated from that to assert wrongly that white people are being forced to “the back of the line” for health care and being shut out both from vaccines and therapeutics.
Michael Lanza, a New York City Health Department spokesman, told the New York Post that race is not used to deny treatment.
Well, seems to me this clarifies things for anyone who had any doubts. Of course, there will be some who prefer to believe distortions of facts rather than believe actual facts or believe the spokesman for the New York City Health Department.
