Zone1 Is the middle class being destroyed in the US?

They also provide bettrr wsges and benefits to their workers. Thats worth the tiny extra cost.
it's what drove business out of the country so I disagree.

I didn’t say it defines them. But one’s pay IS defined by the value he brings to a job.
not in a union, you can be the worst worker and make the same as the best worker. They will never get opportunities either, no management gigs or anything. All incentives removed for something that was always provided by the company.

I know. I once interviewed with a union shop. I was turned off when they told me the raises were uniform. I knew, as a superior employee, that I wanted to be in a place that rewards top contributors. Never took the union job.

I can see where the guarantee would be appealing to mediocre workers,

Theres other jobs besides serving toxic food. We need a shrinking workforce.

This ^^^ OCD broken record has posted about 10,000 times about how much he hates marriage, family, country, and work.

my father had a union factory job & was able to have a home, car, a stay at home wife & raised 5 kids.

try doing that today.

My dad too, but with three kids.

My dad too, but he started night school in college when he was 41, working and raising a family, because he understood it was going to take a little more than what he was allowed to do without a degree. Then he got a degree in Computer Science (that was kind of new at the time) and told his bosses that not only did he have a degree but it was in something none of them knew how to do. :auiqs.jpg:

Most american workers are well above mediocre. And in most cases exceptional workers are not recognized.

How hard do you want them to work? Until they drop? american workers are the most productive hard workers in the world.

That's a rather myopic statement that is in essence true without all the appropriate qualifiers.

American workers can be more productive than workers elsewhere, without putting forth half the effort of workers elsewhere, due to advances in production and the whole idea of working "smarter not harder".

True
But our blue collar workforce works harder right now than any generation, ever.
