Is the American divisive, hateful and intolerant culture pushing psychotics over the edge?

On a hill
I struggled where to put this thread, but in reality it begins and ends with how divisive politics is ruining our nation.

Best estimates, people with psychopathy make up about .6% of the population.
So out of every 1000 people... there are approximately 6 people who are psychotic.
The vast majority of psychotics never harm other people. In fact, historically it is less than 1 in 200.
Having said that, a person with psychosis has a much -much greater chance of becoming violent than the normative population.

Thinking guns is the reason why some teenagers are going on murderous rampages is tragically simplistic.
Our nation has not been this divided since probably the civil war. Arguably.
With the internet, kids can be bombarded with divisive, hateful speech and images. They can go to places like 4chan and see and discuss the most violent topics and find others who agree.
Is this creating monsters??
A psychopaths going to these websites, seeing the hate and anger on the news... seeing the hate and division in their schools... is this enough to increase the likelihood a psychopath committing homicide?

The only good that comes out of allowing the rtwing nutcase fruitcakes to post in here is that it gives them an avenue of release., Most places have completely shut them out and they just stew in their own anger while watching Pawxsnews and listening to their fruitcake radio and TV nutcases who keep churning out the hate.

So I guess USMB does have a purpose after all. Otherwise, the murders of children in the schools, shopping centers and such could be a lot worse.

I'd separate politics from the creation of young homicidal psychopaths. As ugly and divisive and destructive as our politics have become, I think these are two different issues.

Seems to me there is no doubt that the internet in general, and social media specifically, are a net destructive force for our children, who lack the social maturity to effectively deal with the aggressive ugliness that is found there. And really, that's just the beginning. The darkness that can easily be found on the internet and the dark web are surely causing them grave damage and exacerbating our social problems.

Do we have to take the huge step of controlling the internet and removing its inherent anonymity? Maybe. I wish I had an answer.

They do see it as more acceptable to be violent. When national elected leaders literally tell their followers to get in people's faces at gas stations and grocery stores and try to push them out of society simply because of political differences, we have a problem. That problem is made worse when the officials suffer no ill consequences for their actions.

Psychosis cannot be used to explain every violent outburst. Very often these people are enduring a string of crushing misfortune or extreme social isolation. They may only be clinically depressed and just can't take it anymore. It's not like they are delusional about the fact their lives suck and there is no light at the end of their tunnel.

The government is definitely 'farming' or growing kids like this. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Back then our government actually cared enough about developing young minds to implement various forms of censorship on certain media material up to the age of 18. Nowadays however, kids of any age can get online and surf pornography, Faces of Death level violent videos and images, download and play sadistic video games and consume all the gay, trans, anti-Christian, Satanic propaganda they can find—which is a whole lot. So yes, we're manufacturing psychopaths and near psychopaths; we're creating people who have no morals or moral compass, no compassion, no empathy and who think life is like a fucking video game with infinite lives and do overs.

No doubt that parents have the responsibility to protect their kids from the darkness. They've been battling destructive influences since Elvis was shaking it on TV (and long before). We think it's quaint now, but it did spawn a generation that lost trust in their parents and rebelled against anything and anyone that got in the way of a good time. That generation is now in charge and doesn't know how to give kids a solid foundation they can trust.

I support parents who deny their kids uncontrolled and unmonitored access to the internet.

It doesn't help that the groomers are trying to turn these kids and fucking with their heads. Yes he was bullied for wearing girls clothes and makeup to school. Any 18 yr old who does that will be short on friends and have trouble fitting into NORMAL life.

It doesn't help that there is no help. A person who might need therapy in this country is screwed. Being found out to be undergoing therapy is as much an isolating factor as their problems themselves. Take a look at our vets. They have more opportunities for help than most and still suffer in silence.

To claim one party or the other is responsible is not being enti truthful. Though I do have to admit that the left does push hatred and violence a bit more.
To claim that it is gun policies is wrong. There have been plenty of deaths without the use of a single gun.
Some of it is the there is no hope of media hype. Some is a call of violence. Some of it is the outer fringe saying everything is fine and okay if you want to be strange and unusual, while the mainstream says it is not. But most of it is the mental problems of those that commit these acts. Sometimes with the help of drugs, most not.

A boy believing he is a girl is like a girl believing she is the Queen of Sheba. What sort of therapy would you suggest?

Lefties are creating these wackos, on purpose.

I am not talking the creation of psychopaths. I don't believe the internet can create a psychopath.
Rather, the existing kids who already have psychopathy... is this sickness exacerbated enough by the internet, current divisiveness and outright HATRED we see in our culture now that puts them over the edge and commit these crimes?
That is a serious question that deserves very real attention. BUT NO ONE IS. You can't gain politically from discussing it.

The definition of psychopathy is a person who simply doesn't have empathy. Whatever that is in our brains that makes us inherently feel for other human beings... doesn't exist in them. They can murder another human with no more empathy than killing a bug on a wall. The reason they don't do it - is self interest. They don't want to go to jail like everyone else.
But even though they only make up .6% of the population - they commit 17% of homicides. They are way-way-way more likely to commit such heinous nightmares as this. And is today's technology, isolation, social media, daily screaming on cable news - is this creating the monsters doing these acts?

To clarify, I didn't mean creating a psychopath from scratch. Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt that the internet exacerbate the existing mental illness of many people (In fairness, though, I do think it can create significant anxieties in people who wouldn't be diagnosed with existing mental illness).

Hell, as dangerous as you and I know the internet is, there is shit out there that you and I couldn't even imagine, and it's not hard to find.

So these kids are just consuming this stuff every day.

Your idiotic thread headline presumes certain things about our culture. And since I see your presumptions as being without merit, I saw no reason to bother with the rest of your OP. I did see that it was endorsed by jwoodie. So, I consider it a confirmation that it isn’t worth reading.
