Is it true John Boehner's district has 95 structurally unsafe bridges?

Boehner needs to fix his and McConnell's bridge NOW!!! He has to off-set any monies used for it as per Cantor's (R) demand inre: disaster relief ;)

And the Brent Spence is in the backyard of House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester, and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Louisville. Both have been strong critics of the president’s jobs plan.

Just something I heard. Is it true? Seems connecting communities is important. Sounds like "jobs".

Where did you hear it ? Was it a signal transmitted to you via your tinfoil hat by some Democratic hate-group ?

I don't know if it's true or not as a statistic. (95? That exact number reminds me of McCarthy's lists.) What is definitely true is that roads, bridges, electrical cables, and infrastructure in general in the U.S. is in sad shape, and Boehner is among those trying to avoid spending the money to fix the problem.

Iam: strictly speaking the authority of the federal government to spend that money is contained in the first clause of Article 1, Section 8, in which Congress is authorized to tax in order to (among other things) provide for the general welfare. In terms of precedent, Congress has a very long history of appropriating public money for infrastructure construction, from the Erie Canal to the railroads to the interstate highway system. It is not, or should not be, a controversial idea.

What difference does it make. We have pot holes on the interstate in HOuston, is Rick Perry responsible. If we don't stop the blame game nothing is going to get done.

That depends. When the reason nothing is getting done is because some people are obstructing it, putting the blame where it belongs can be a first step in removing the obstruction.

Building and maintaining bridges is a State and local responsibility but the Feds make the regs for them and give the state federal funds to repair, and inspect bridges. A lot of times the State must supply matching funds.

It really is a job for the county and the state. Whine at the county commissioners.

The attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 is really a job for the State of NY and the Brrough of Manhattan as well as the State of Virginia; let's let their militias fight the war on terror. The fires in Texas are a problem for Texans and each state impacted by Hurricane Irene should go it alone.

Destruction of the Union seems to be the goal of the New Right.

So where is the Sallow thread titled: John Boehner wants to let people plummet to their death on collapsed bridges? :dunno:

Don't confuse rdean with facts.

Hmm....maybe I have it all wrong...but I thought Bridges and roadways was a state issue?
But hell...their Governor once worked for Fox news...so there you go...we all know therefore that Murdoch has something to do with this....probably gave the money to Teabaggers.

You might..

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings; And

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Only on FEDERAL Roads. Not State roads. Dumb ass.

... what happened to the trillions already spent on infrastructure ??
That's just it, there's still bridge repair money he hasn't spend yet. Of course even though he may be holding back with bridge repairs, other funds did get spent without delay on projects such as--
--Acorn's tax advice for child molesters,
--teaching African men how to wash their genitals,
--loan guarantees for failed solar panel companies,
--manufacturing electric cars in Finland.
