I don't know why there is resistance with some people when they are shown a legal pathway to get what they want and their response is "you can't tell me what to do!"

It is indeed unfortunate if all he had to do was file some paperwork and the animals would have been fine, but on the other hand, there is still excuse for the way this raid was carried out, as if he was a wanted felon who murdered someone.

Most states don't allow you to keep wildlife as pets. The exception is if you're a permitted rehabber with plans to release them into the wild.

An exception though is an animal who has bonded with their human and they are unable to live on their own. These two animals could have fit into that category by a "kinder" government.

My friend takes in mostly baby raccoons squirrels and opossums, raises them and actually teaches them to survive independently on their own (they don't know this stuff instinctively. The mother's actually TEACH them these things). She's careful to not let them become too attached to her but she is always heartbroken in the spring when she releases her "babies"

He got complaints from busybody neighbors. The EXCUSE they used was someone got bit and they had to test for rabies. But they killed both. I don't believe their excuse
