Increasing US isolation

Me? I don't think so, they spend it on US arms manufacturers and they have to borrow in order to spend, our nation lives off a giant credit card.

What if the dollar devalues? what if your saved thousands of dollars halves in buying power, what will you do?
We have flushed trillions down the toilet propping up governments all over the world, protecting Europe and Asia from Russia and China, providing medical care and drugs virtually free of charge.

All you do is piss and moan.

I spent some time catching up with the economist Jeffrey Sachs yesterday and I found it enlightening.

The upshot of my catch up is that US dominance is fading and Europe with it possibly, partly due to recent US actions, new alliances are forming between states that the US worked to keep opposed to each other, for example China is now starting to talk more to India and Japan, these are (he argues) very natural alliances and it is only because of US policy that they've been prevented from developing but that kind of US influence is now fading, the US is being seen as increasingly unimportant.

He talks about the anxiety here in the US, the tension here and how it is more or less just here, other nations more or less don't care and see the US has a declining empire far way and just a distraction now.

He points out that a country with 4% of the population has for far too long tried to run the world and that those days are over, not just because of Trump but certainly in ways that Trump is not equipped to do anything about.

Worth a listen whichever "side" you're on.

So, what exactly is the downside?

Rubbish.

Rubbish, Tvaritch.

If that were true then NATO would have gone to war against Russia in the 1991-1995 time frame.

It did not.

Russia merely seeks to revive its Imperial past.

You're not fooling anybody, Tvaritch.

The West is fueling a DEFENSIVE war... Russia attacked... not Ukraine... you could use a class in Logic at Moscow University.

If you have to ask that question then you do not have the interest of The West at heart.

If you have to ask that question then you do not have the interest of The West at heart.

Spare us your outdated analogies, Tavaritch... you're not fooling anyone... :laughing0301:
I'll follow your lead in formulating my reply: Rubbish.

Have a nice day.

China isn't a threat to Europe, nor is Russia, this is propaganda. If a Chinese led military alliance openly talked about building military bases in Mexico by letting Mexico join said alliance, I suppose the US would just sit and watch?
All you do is piss and moan.
Complaining because I disagree with you is the epitome of moaning.

It isn't? Where do you get your geopolitical knowledge, the side of a crisps bag?

The US is right now threatening Europeans with tariffs and now huge long term commitments to buy US arms to keep on attacking Russia, which will be paid for by the European worker.

China isn't doing that, Russia isn't doing that, it's pretty clear who the aggressor to Europe is here.

Yeah, the US is tired of you preventing our companies from selling their products in to Europe.

Your countries have been tarrifing the crap out of us since the end of WWII.

And you're pissing and moaning because we have decided that we won't let you do it any longer.

Yeah, the US is tired of you preventing our companies from selling their products in to Europe.
What products? are they any good? SUV's that are too big for European roads? Guns which most countries don't have a fetish for, microchips? when the EU makes its own? meat products chock full of hormones? beer that resembles puppy piss?

Go and read about GATT you dunce. The US and Europe after WW2 worked hard to have very low trade barriers, you don't even get the basics right.
And you're pissing and moaning because we have decided that we won't let you do it any longer.
By devaluing your own currency? that's clever, here's how many dollars a EURO buys over he past year:

Meaning? the buying power of the dollar is falling...how is that good for Americans? for you and me???

More “Isolation”

European leaders have been trained to be lapdogs, this is not disputed. EU foreign policy has more or less been dictated by the US and middle eastern policy dictated by Israel. Unless the EU starts to think for itself and trade with Russia more and China, it will continue to be the junior partner.

If the EU just said "Nope" to trump then the US would likely suffer and perhaps realize how bad trump is, that would be good all around for European and American workers.

Europe was ALLOWED to put tarrifs on US products to help recover from the war.

The problem is you twits never removed them.

Yes, lapdogs to the globalists.

Was professor Sachs locked in a freaking closet in Columbia while Trump used his influence to end about half a dozen long standing conflicts throughout the world? Sachs has to be confused about which president he is talking about. He may be afflicted with the TDS mental disorder and perhaps he should seek professional help.

So you don’t know the meaning of the word “isolation”.

Prolly shouldn’t be using it until you do, Crayon Muncher.

Yep Biden did a number on us....

As I've mentioned before (and as any open minded person can quickly confirm) the US spends more than it generates, we consume far more than we produce - how is that the fault of other nations?

The man teaches economics FYI.

The US has no military treaty with Israel FYI. The democrats and republicans have more or less the same policy with Israel, our media largely ignores global criticism of Israel, it is right now huge, the vast majority of states have openly condemned the genocide.

Here, watching US "news" we do not see that mass disapproval, so your ignorance of it is simply proof that you use very narrow sources.

There's nothing there worth responding to.

It's influence is fading and Trump has massively accelerated that. Here's today news:

Trump is mainly a domestic worry for us living here, the rest of the world is already adjusting to a world no longer dominated by the US.

Sachs is one of the few who have stayed credible.

His matchups with Napolitano are worth our time too. Chris Hedges!

No, that's not what fair actually means, this is one definition:

Discriminating against the rest of the world (by running away from the democratic WTO and imposing huge tariffs) is hardly "fair".

There's also no such thing as "our own business dealings" when trading with other nations.

Well to the rest of the WTO the US has become the outsider, acting unilaterally and refusing to abide by the democratic WTO votes.

Part of the reason for high India tariffs is coercion from Washington, geopolitical pressure like (for example) insisting India does not buy Russian oil, that's unfair.

What business is it of trump's where India buys its oil?
So what accounts for your deep allegiance and faith in the WTO? "Politico", being a dedicated anti-Trump, left leaning publication, gets it pretty right re the WTO:

". . .Under the cover of “free trade,” China has used its membership to continue expanding its power by unfair means. It turns out that the WTO isn’t the solution but a fundamental part of the problem. By accelerating the weakening of truly free economies, it has fostered the rise of unfree and nondemocratic actors. It promotes dependencies and has become a Trojan horse of unfree trade. . ."

So if one of the most leftist publications on the internet identifies the problems with the WTO, what is it that makes you defend it? Or fault President Trump for bypassing it?

I truly wish Christopher Hitchens were still here (despite disagreeing with his atheism) and Gore Vidal, I bet these men are turning in their graves.
