I'm discouraged.

I guess as a moderator I see more of those posts and stuff than other people do. Maybe I'm reading into it, but for some people, justice and vengeance are one in the same.

Justice and vengeance are the same. The only difference is with justice, you are letting a governing body execute the vengeance instead of the person wronged.

But when the 'governing body' refuses to carry out the 'justice', then what?

How many hours of divisive rhetoric by the leaders in your party would you like to defend? 1,000? 10,000? "Nazi" "Gestapo" "Hitler" "Fascist" "Terrorists" "Kidnappers" "Disappeared" "Tyrants" "Dictator"

I'm discouraged to see people giving in to their base hatred over political violence. I was raised to forgive, not forget. I was told, "Don't be that which you hate," yet I see it happening everywhere these days. This hyperpolarized political atmosphere is robbing us all of our humanity. Lots of people are seemingly sacrificing their highest morals for the most basest forms of hatred.

Am I naive? Perhaps. Am I old school? Yes! I wasn't raised to repay barbarity with barbarity.
You will never make it in the D party

Then again, the D party isn't making it...

Honestly your post is bit too deep for me. I just go by a very simple principle that was taught to me when I first came to the West, and it has since served me really, really, well: One does NOT go around killing people for simply saying things one disagrees with.

Simple, yet effective.

What are we supposed to do? We tried getting a long with democrats, but most of them aren't interested in that. No offense or anything, but holding hands and singing Kumbaya around the campfire time is long over I'm afraid.

Sometimes you have to meet violence with violence.

The problem is the left now considers some forms of speech to be "violence"

Well when you're threatening to harm or murder somebody it is.

Well, I will, should it be brought upon me. But I wouldn't go out looking for a fight.

I was never a vengeful person. I don't want to be. I prefer to be the nice, kind, silent type who people would be ill-advised to anger.

That's a good way to be and I try to be that way as well, but the democrats are the ones looking for a fight not republicans.

The advice I got growing up is "Never start a fight, but always finish one"

That's the case here as well.

Does there need to be? I think not.

Nope, you're right. Jesus forgave those who crucified Him although they weren't looking for forgiveness and Erika forgave Tyler Robinson although he obviously wasn't looking for it either.

It appears nobody is interested in that anymore. I guess I will be in the minority from now on.

Again, we as a nation tried that already. These demoncrats don't want to talk to us. They want to murder us in cold blood and laugh hysterically at it just like they did with Kirk. Most of them anyways.

"I'm discouraged to see people giving in to their base hatred over political violence."

If you do not like it Do not read it. Simple as that problem solved
end of thread

Wow, we agree for the first time ever.

That’s why Erica Kirk forgives the killer. Not for his sake. For HERS. Often it’s necessary to move forward.

Well, I actually think that it's both.

What people are demanding vengeance? I am personally not seeing that myself. I saw millions of people who loved Charlie hold prayer vigils, memorials, amazing tributes. I am not seeing those who loved him rioting in the streets or creating chaos. They are lighting candles, posting his best quotes and videos on social media, and trying to carry on his legacy. They are pouring donations into TPUSA to use to carry on his legacy.

It is only the kinds of people who would commit that kind of horrible murder and/or the truly questionable types who applauded/cheered/approved of/justified that kind of evil violence that deserve our contempt.

He's confusing justice for vengeance.

No it isn't.
