I'm About to Get My First Colonoscopy At 35 Years Old

Cologuard. I opted for it last time instead of a colonoscopy because the laxatives they give me either do not work or work well enough to clean me out. It was much easier and it will tell you what problems you may have without an invasive procedure. At a younger age, I would ask the doctor if that is a valid diagnostic for your symptoms instead of a colonoscopy. If it is "negative, you will not need one.

Wow so young, hard to believe it could be cancer. I hope it is negative.

Thanks and me too but do you know what my frequent urination is a cause of as I've been getting that along with stomach and rib cramps as well.

I wasn't going to tell you guys this until it started getting serious and final but now I have an appointment to see the doctor on December 8th at 10:00 AM.

I'm guessing that the colonoscopy won't be the same day. I've struggled with constipation in the past but it's all been minor. I can't say I'm completely constipated, I just have trouble emptying myself completely and now I'm getting bloody stools. I apologize as I know that it's gross, but just in case the results come back that I have colon cancer (I think that I would be feeling much worse if it was) I just wanted to prepare you guys for it because a lot of you on here I care about as much as I can with online friends. I'll keep you posted and prayers are appreciated. 🙏
Best Wishes.
The Procedure itself is painless and the 30 minute procedure seems like 3 minutes due to good meds.
Stay close to home when taking the prep. Buy a book.
100% the truth.
Prayers for you

Sometimes a bloody stool can be caused by diet... You're young ...you're not vaccinated right?
What does the Vaccination have to do with this ^^^^^^ ?

the prep you drink is the worst part of it & i suggest you just guzzle the prep each time you need to take it.

if you like jello, i suggest you make a couple bowls ahead of time - because you can't eat, it will help make you feel full. no red or purple flavors. lemon is really good.

good luck & it's nice to know you can eat right after.

Yep, I just double checked about it but I'm pretty sure that the colonoscopy is going to be scheduled afterwards. I'm just really confused and curious about this frequent urination thing and what that could be possibly caused by.
If the doctor does not think it is necessary, they may not do it. You will find out when he checks your symptoms. If you don't mind my asking, have you submitted a stool sample to your doctor to determine what type of blood is in your stool?

No not yet as I haven't been asked to.
Then that sounds like what this doctor should do. Your doctor is an idiot for not testing you first before referring you to a specialist. Doctors are getting away from colonoscopies because of the expense and your doctor not testing you first is borderline malpractice. At your age, I doubt your insurance would even approve a colonoscopy without further evidence.

I already know that my insurance will cover it and my doctor is a very nice man. I trust him completely but yeah so far I haven't been asked to provide a sample but the bloody stools have been infrequent up till now anyways.

Another personal question if you don't mind. Is the blood red or dark, close to black?

I am not a doctor, but I do play one on TV, :abgg2q.jpg:

I am a professional patient. I took a Facebook test of 60 questions on medical equipment the other day designed for medical professionals and got nearly 90% correct. My wife has her medical degree from Google :abgg2q.jpg:and my daughter is a paramedic.

Nothing is quite like the entire medical community infiltrating one's large colon...... ~S~

15th post
The doctor, attending nurse, anesthesiologist, and instrument sterilizer are going to brag about how you like it in the back.

LOL

Just kidding.

Plus, they'll have pictures that everyone can see!

Okay that just got awkward quickly.

Prayers up. And may the diagnosis be just as gross--say hemorrhoids--but not dangerous and reasonably easily treated.

Bright red.
If you are constipated like you said, that is more likely a sign or hemorrhoids or some type of bleeding caused by the hard stool. You might discuss that at your appointment. I have passed red blood during bowel movements after severe constipation and so does my son who has IBS, but he also has hemorrhoids. Just food for thought. If you had any bleeding further up, the blood would be dark brown or nearly black in color.

Talk to the doctor. I only play one on TV. :D
