I'm About to Get My First Colonoscopy At 35 Years Old

Oh yeah and there's the problem of my not being able to empty myself completely either when I'm running to the bathroom constantly for that reason as well.

Well I'm waiting for a call to schedule a colonoscopy. The doctor thinks that the bleeding is just due to the hemorrhoid but thinks that it's better to be safe than sorry. I also got my inner hemorrhoid banded today and he told me to lay off the stool softeners and drink my Metamusal twice a day instead of once a day. I'll keep you guys posted when I have an appointment scheduled. JohnDB

Well guys, I'm scheduled to go get my colonoscopy next Thursday at 1:40 PM EST. I'm probably not going to be here on Wednesday for prep day and Thursday I'll be really out of it so I should be able to give you guys the results next Friday. JohnDB.

I wasn't going to tell you guys this until it started getting serious and final but now I have an appointment to see the doctor on December 8th at 10:00 AM.


I'm guessing that the colonoscopy won't be the same day. I've struggled with constipation in the past but it's all been minor. I can't say I'm completely constipated, I just have trouble emptying myself completely and now I'm getting bloody stools. I apologize as I know that it's gross, but just in case the results come back that I have colon cancer (I think that I would be feeling much worse if it was) I just wanted to prepare you guys for it because a lot of you on here I care about as much as I can with online friends. I'll keep you posted and prayers are appreciated.

The scope is actually the easy part, you sleep right through it. LOL, they won't find any shred of your dignity up there for sure. The worst part of it is the prep. Starts the evening before and you definitely won't be constipated during the prep. Its no fun. Thankfully, I've probably had my last as they told me last time that I was good to go for another ten years. Good luck, April. You'll do fine.

I was thinking that was it possibly too actually. I'm still going to the bathroom a little bit but most of my colon is cleaned out now as I had my drink a few hours ago and now I'm just down to yellowish/gray. I have to get up at six in the morning my time to drink the other stuff and then it's smooth sailing from there. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought that it was going to be though.

I am surprised when you went to the doc the first time he/she didn't order a pelvic/adominal CT scan which can pick up diverticulitis and treated with two nasty antibiotics. The colonoscopy will pick it up if you have it.. If you do be prepared for a lifetime of flareups. Also if that is the case google the diverticulitis forums.

I am surprised when you went to the doc the first time he/she didn't order a pelvic/adominal CT scan which can pick up diverticulitis and treated with two nasty antibiotics. I'm so glad for you and kinda jealous to be honest! Mine always seem to go like, I'm feeling good so surely everything is fine...then the GI says, "nope you have active Crohn's inflammation".....ARG
