During WW2, we concluded the war and then pounded out the peace. Calling a "ceasefire" now is sort of pointless. Maybe you can make suggestions to the victors after victory is obtained as to ideas to eliminate a recurrence. We haven't had any recurrences of war in Germany or Japan since WW2.

well i don't know how the initial Zionist settlers in Palestine were greeted by the Palestinians,
but i do know it quickly grew into an equally, maybe even more intense conflict.

now we're at the stage where the Palestinian population lets themselves be deceived by hardliners (Hamas among them, but also hardline imams),
into educating their children to become soldiers to free Palestine from opression.

but in reality, there is no real opression.
