Idaho Rep. Votes Against Kindergarten Funding As It Helps Mothers 'Come Out of the Home'

Republicans just love to force their lifestyle on other people regardless of whether or not they can afford it or want to do it. Particularly when the issue involves women, the republicans are all for Big Government and gag rules I remember when the republican party was a political party and not the freak show that it is now.

I remember when they hid who and what they are well but don't remember a time when they weren't a freak show.

This is the normal progression of their party. They started taking their masks off in the reagan years. The masks aren't all the way off but close to it.

They didn't just become this over night. They've been like this all along.

At least since the "Southern Strategy." I grew up in a town that was probably predominantly Republican, and my parents were independents who voted, I think, mostly Republican, so they didn't seem so ghoulish and disgusting back then. Now they are a totally out-of-the-closet freak show. Very primitive, tribal. An article about them might appear in National Geographic quite soon.
Tell the editors to avoid topless pictures of the trump Nazi women, most aren't something anyone wants to see even only half naked.

What is "propriety" to you, since you say that happiness is not the goal of life? Do you consider that "propriety" includes one's giving up one's life to maintain another human in a position of power? Do you believe that there is a caste system that one is born into, like in India? How would you feel if you were in a subordinate caste by virtue of your birth?

Propriety is doing what you Should rather than what you want. It’s doing what’s Right even though it may not be in your own self-interest.

I don’t believe in a Caste system in the way India does things but rather a Meritocracy of those who add to Society rather than taking and those who live properly over those who choose not to.

To answer your last question... I have no problem being a subordinate. In fact I prefer it to being the leader.

Then there is the over-arching question of who determines what someone "should" do and what is "right" or "proper" is. Authoritarianism, whether or not religion-based, requires that there be an authority figure, but who in the hell is that supposed to be? Moreover, there is no real meritocracy if a substantial number of people have one hand tied behind their backs when competing or being kept out of the competition altogether, which would indicate the operation of a caste system.

You may prefer to be a subordinate rather than the leader. Leaders have to shoulder the responsibility to actually lead their followers somewhere good, not just accept the title and then sit back and lead nowhere.

What is the point of living if you're miserable?

Why did Thomas Jefferson declare that we have a right to life, liberty and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS in the document that declared us free from England and started the revolutionary war?

Of course happiness is important.

Only a masochist doesn't want to be happy.

it’s not about being miserable. It’s about doing the Right thing. That’s not always pleasant. Sometimes it is, but at others it’s not.

Mr Jefferson, like his companions, was extraordinarily naive. He failed to understand that Right supersedes anything else.

Happiness is the gateway to impropriety. If it weren’t, thst wouldn’t be an issue.

Wow I never thought that in 2021 I would read such an article and people would be so backward that they don't even know what is happening in their state.

According to the article 65% of children under 8 in Idaho have both parents in the workforce.

This isn't the 1950s. This is 2021. We live in a society that doesn't allow only one parent to work. Especially when the minimum wage is only 7.25 an hour. Young parents don't have the luxury to not work.

This hurts children and parents.

So basically you want taxpayers to pay billions to give people free daycare for their kids along with free housing free medical free food free cash free rides and free free free more.

Hun, their families should step up and help or the parents that you assume are getting minimum wage need to arrange their work hours to accomodate daycare.

Conservatives have always been clueless when it comes to the reality of life in the United States.

The Baby Boomers grew up watching TV shows like "Leave It To Beaver", "I Love Lucy", "The Donna Reed Show", etc. These are now the people that have, for some time, been running the United States' corporations and federal, state, and local governments. They cater to the unrealistic memories their fellow boomers hold dear, and those of the subsequent generations also raised on these same TV shows, but by the reruns, which hammered away at them every afternoon and weekends.

So, for the conservatives, with their generations of dismissive attitude towards education and the educated, their view of the ideal life for the American family still requires wives to stay at home, immaculately dressed. and in a model home. After all, in the good old days, when America was truly great, no one worried about income inequality, unless the week's plot had Dad facing money problems, which were long forgotten by next week's episode.

This is the reality the trump Nazis see in their distorted and demented mental picture of what the twenty-first century, white, American family should be. With all the trappings and minor problems faced by TV families, but without the people of color, the working poor, the homeless, etc., and the progressives trying to solve these problems, which have imposed themselves on the right-wingers' conservative utopia since the 1960s.

The trump Nazis have become so detached from reality, they want to return to the wonderful years the folks in Nazi Germany enjoyed under Hitler's rule, but with the protection of the U.S. Constitution reserved for themselves, alone. (Especially, the Second Amendment, to keep the people of color, the working poor, the homeless, etc., and the progressives trying to solve these problems, out of their conservative utopia. It was the a$$hole trump's promise to them, because that's the (unattainable) reality that would make America great, for the right-wingers... again.)

Perhaps you are the one unacquainted with reality.

Democrats embrace inequality and corruption.

If the people of Idaho support such antediluvian ideals, who are we to judge...

I'm not judging.

What I'm doing is pointing out the stupidity and discrimination of women.

The children who don't go to preschool will be left behind and that isn't fair to those kids.

It's also not fair to the rest of the nation. Idaho isn't an island unto itself. They will be creating more improperly educated people who won't be able to compete in our society. More improperly educated people who will have to depend on public assistance even if they work because they will only qualify for low paying jobs.

This is very shortsighted and damaging to not just the kids but to the nation.
What happened over the last 50 to 60 years that made things worse? I will tell you the Democratic Party with movements that turned it into the Progressive Socialist Party had most of the say. You created this with social justice. Thinking there would be no down side. We created a possible situation where moms burn the candle on both sides because of the agendas at a much greater level.

I believe if you have a properly written Constitution and a focused (not limited) Governmental System you can make the Society thst Overlord rather than an individual.

I would prefer to be subordinate but unfortunately I keep getting thrust into leadership roles that I don’t really want. I avoid as many as possible but keep ending up in charge of things.

The reality is that fake world on TV in the 50s doesn't exist in America. It never did.

The conservatives spent decades trying to take reproductive freedom from women. They expect all females who get pregnant to carry it to term and give birth.

The conservatives also hate any sort of public assistance to women and children with a passion.

So if a single mother has to stay home with the child and can't work how is she going to support herself and her child?

If she's young and has no training or skills how is she going to support herself and her child on minimum wage if she works? How is she going to afford child care on 7.25 an hour?

These people aren't living in reality.

And the party of 'family values' meaning republicans, always fight against a living wage policy. They'd rather see 2 parent working three low wage jobs and no time for 'family values' as the billionaire class become wealthier and wealthier.

They suffer from EDA - Extreme Demographic Anxiety. They see black and brown folks (along with Progs) as a threat. Someone is always out to "take their stuff" or vote for a candidate they don't approve of. If one isn't straight, white, and conservative - they're wrongly perceived as a threat.

Trump's promise was a return to the 1950s. Those of us living in the real world know that the carefree days of Wally and The Beav won't be returning anytime soon.

Since when do democrats care about "family values" anyway? SMH

Freaking Idaho - Outside of Boise/ Ada County (1/2 the population in the state) they are still trapped in 1952.

Unfortunately, the carefree days of Wally and The Beav never really existed off the TV screen. The same problems existed then that exist today. Severe poverty, racism, bigotry, you know, everything conservatives want in America.

But, as black people grew more and more dissatisfied by their marginalization by white people, those carefree days of Wally and The Beav began to disappear from the right-wingers' TV screens. They were replaced with the scenes of racial unrest that had be smoldering for decades, but had been ignored by the white conservatives.

Once again, conservative denial blinded them to the reality of the times, just as it does today. To the trump Nazis, America is great when over fifty percent of society can be ignored to the point of nonexistence. .
