I was at the urgent care today

This morning I was doing laundry and the dryer started making a disturbing noise. So I opened in up, and was wondering whether the heating element was working. So I touched it, and found out that it was, when I burned 3 fingers.

I was in a fair amount of pain, and the burn looked pretty ugly.

So what the hell.

I drove down there and make it back to the examining area and the nurse practicioner is some young doofus and I explained what happened. This character asked me what fingers and I tell him, and he says "oh, the #3 and #4 fingers" I said also the #2 finger.

He tells me you mean your pointing finger? No, #2,3 and 4, middle finger, ring finger and pinkie.

He looks at me as if I am a dumb ass when he points out that fingers are counted with the thumb as #1.

How is a civilian supposed to be expected to know that? These young whipper snappers are starting to piss me off.

Jesus H. Christ, don't be such a difficult old codger, you'll get better service in any industry if you treat others with respect and understanding, even if your dumb ass numbering system is different then the one they use.

I had hot coffee spilled on the three fingers (no numbers) at Mickey D's and it is because the employee did not attach the lid properly to the cup and filled it to the very top. They apologized and I said get me some ice, which they did.

Burned fingers made a full recovery that morning.

In my case, I stuck my fingers in a cup of ice water for a couple of hours and it really didn't cure the situation.

So I thought it was prudent to stop by the urgent care center. They gave me some cream and it worked out fine.
