I don't believe in utopia, for the sake that one person's paradise is another person's hell; as an ideal world is relative to each individual.


But the biggest farce is at birth, where the state claims you as its own, and declares a legally binding contract between you and it at age 0.

If an institution such as a church or a corporation claimed ownership of people that would be slavery, yet the government gets away with it.

Imagine yourself in another's ideological or religious shoes. You are born into x nation, but you become a communist, or a islamist, a free market capitalist, an industrialist, a writer, or any manner of things. But you are bound by contract to a state you never consented to exist or be ruled by, and its ideals are different to your own.

Is it any wonder we have wars of independence or of an ideological or ethnic nature, when at the most basic and fundamental level, consent is forced at the barrel of a gun, by court, or by popular demand. A free society doesn't exist yet, where you can make a real choice.

Indeed, the pursuit of happiness..it is in most part a personal quest not so much a group activity

That kinda depends on whether one's focus is on the individual or on the collective.

One thing should be painfully obvious to all observers of Civilization with an IQ above Room Temperature....

It is always, always life's losers who want change. Not just losers, but failures.

This is not just true on the micro level, but on the macro level as well.

Look at Islam. The only way those goat-fucking scumbags can exist without butchering everything in sight is if they have BILLIONS in oil revenue coming in..... Otherwise, they get busy killing everyone around them..... Including each other.

Usually, it's the fact that people live in a somewhat free society and the truth is -- They're just too stupid or too lazy to succeed. So they protest or start a War.

I keep thinking over this post and what we know of Jake and I find it completely ironic.

he wants a society that's educated but doesn't educate himself.

he wants equal rights but treats women like crap.

he wants little violence but he is obviously angry in his posts and frequently threatens people with violence of some sort. IE castration, death or just the general threat of forcing his ideas on others.

Every attempt in history to create a utopian society failed. Badly. Think the bit from the end of the first Matrix movie is true when the Agent's interrogating Morpheous and tells him about the first attempt at the Matrix failing despite it being a paradise. I don't think we do well in a paradise setting. Without challenge and struggle maybe we atrophy or invent something to oppose.
