Let the voters decide when they want a raise. Have a referendum.

They have to start off at minimum wage, like everybody else.
And how long their term is.
Forbidden to make investments and stock purchases of any kind, in any country.
Forbidden to own, purchase, lease, or rent any more than ONE single, one item property for personal residence.
Forbidden to own, rent, lease, or have any dealings with any business or company in lieu of power, prestige, money, favors, etc...
For every LIE they tell, they get a 20% reduction in pay. More than 3 lies during their term, they get fired and can never hold any political office again.
They are only allowed ONE residence.
Bills and laws brought forward cannot contain any favors, spam, ham, "leanings", or any type of accommodations that have nothing to do with the original bill in question.
How about making Congress obey the current Constitution first before moving on to make new amendments?Let the voters decide when they want a raise. Have a referendum.
It is amazing how they can own a dozen mansions worth millions all across the globe on a salary of only around $100,000.I don’t think Congress has had a raise in 15 years
They are underpaid
Back in the day, before the Civil War, congressmen held a job in the district that they represented because there was no government paycheck, travel for days, thus they would vote so to make their districts better. Senators were appointed by the Governor of the State and if the Governor went from Democrat to Republican, then the Senators would be changed also. Not so much now, it is all about their power and what they do to keep it. Scumbag establishment Republicans and Demoncraps, need to fucking go.That would be monumentally stupid.
You have to consider the scope of the job. You have to look at the responsibilities they assume when they accept the job. Do you really want the guy who gets to vote to declare war on another country getting paid$13 an hour?
Blind trusts would work in this instance...
Why?
This doesn't really make any sense...
Would you be willing to accept those conditions for your job? No, of course not. And you would say you shouldn't because you're not responsible for running the country.
Which would bring us back to the point about minimum wage...
So you said, although there doesn't seem to be any viable reason for it...
More explanation is required here.
You seem to always want to be poised to punish someone for taking the job. That just seems odd to me. You punish them by voting them out of office.
I want them to be well-paid. The mere suggestion of minimum wage is retarded. They have a responsibility that most people would never want to accept. They should be dealt with and paid accordingly...
Agreed. The people and the states are their employers. Employees don't get to determine their own salaries.Let the voters decide when they want a raise. Have a referendum.

They're grossly overpaid.

Just a thought.
That's you're opinion.A person who's been in Congress for ten years makes less than $200K a year. That's not a lot of money when you consider the job they are asked to perform...

Congressrats are not executives.Very few top executives would accept the $176,000 every member makes regardless of experience
That would be monumentally stupid.

True dat.Obviously you prefer the corrupt, lying, violent, psychopathic tax dollar money laundering asswipes that are in office.
Their government benefits would outweigh any and all high dollar wages they would make during their HONEST careers in office.
Just like self-entitled, tantrum throwing toddlers.........politicians need to be restricted and heavily controlled.
If they are going to lie, then they need to be punished.
These are not typical "jobs", these are positions of power that are supposed to be for the BENEFIT of the country, not the cause of its DESTRUCTION!
They are supposed to SERVE THE PEOPLE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!
A tight rein on them is what is needed. If they don't like it, they can go flip burgers for a living.
That's you're opinion.
Pay them a modest salary, make them handle the affairs of the state and not of the people, and pull them down from their pedestals like they're servents rather than rulers, and see how many stay in office for life.
Their job consists of sitting in a huge room listening to panderings, meanderings, and filibusters while on their phones playing Angry Birds. And they only perform ACTUAL work about 1/3 of the year, the rest of the time they are just sitting on their asses doing nothing productive.
I'd say they are hellaciously overpaid, and need to have their pay cut drastically.
