I’m very excited that Trump has decided Obamacare is worth keeping as he seeks to extend government subsidies, which are essential. I don’t mind paying taxes for things such as healthcare for those in need.

I’m not really a “small government “ guy so I applaud this move.

But I want to know if the changes that he wants to implement will result in each plan costing people less money in premiums and deductibles than it cost before.

Do you guys think Trump will lower premiums and deductibles?

I think Trump will lower premiums and deductibles because he is all for affordability.

If its the Affordable Car Act, then there is no need for more subsidies. It's already affordable. It is right in the name!

Johnson and the boys said no to Trumps idea. It will be too late anyway unless they extend open enrollment until February 15th so the ones who have lost those subsidies can reapply.

Congress likes the HSA plan with the government funding them, but if people don't want their taxes going towards subsidies today they certainly won't want their taxes going into an HSA for you.

Meh, what’s a couple of months paying $800.

I think he will help keep the program viable by eliminating tax funded free healthcare for people making six figures.

Some other program besides the ACA would be needed to actually lower premiums and deductable.

I think by "lower premiums and deductable" you mean have the government pay even more of them, to the great benefit of mega corporations.

Well, if they don't extend them it will be 12 months of $800.

You don't really think congress could get their shit together before January 15th? Yes, open enrollment is still 1/15 but if you don't do it by 12/15 you'll pay your larger premium for Jan and if you have signed up 12/16 to 1/15 your new premium and plan isn't effective until 2/1/2026.

Next year you'll have until December 31st and that is it. If you're using the federal exchange you will also be required to set up an account at healthcare.gov regardless if you do it yourself or an agent to help you. One benefit of having your own account is you can get your 1095A weeks before they mail them.

Not necessarily. It means any way that Trump can make it lower.
