On a recent emergency repair trip I was tested three times in the course of six hours. Not by choice; but by diktats of local tyrants in the city from which I departed, one airport where there was a two over layover and once more upon arrival in the place I'd be working for no more than 2 days.

All were negative.

All were expensive.

No, I didn't have to pay for them because I told the people needing the emergency repair up front that they were paying for all costs associated with my coming to fix their broken "essential" equipment. First test cost them $100. The second one $75. The third one was no-charge because the destination city wasn't charging "essential personnel".

Yes, when a vaccine is available I'll have it as quickly as possible.

But they damn well are NOT going to tattoo me with a number.

I saw a thing in the news where a resturaunt owner crashed in on a news reporter and came unglued about the Covid Relief. He made a very good point. His small shop was dying while the big shops were thriving and not one dime of the relief made it's way to him nor his employees except for that one time payment of 1200 bucks. He said that we should have completely shut down for 2 or 3 months, got a handle on things and then fully reopened.

That makes sense. It's the way the 1918/19 Swine Flu was beaten with no vaccine available. They just removed the available hosts until it died out to a manageable and traceable level. And no one was above the exception. If you didn't comply, you were isolated forcibly. Now, that was one nasty time but it had to be done. And Covid is just as nasty as the Spanish Flu in the long run.

We are going to end up hitting over 500,000 covid 19 related deaths by the time it ends. Yes, we will end up in 18 months, the same or more death toll of the number of Americans lost to World War II in 3 years. I think I would have traded Covid 19 for a war in heart beat. War I understand. Epidemics I don't understand.

If everyone were to do the PPP things, we wouldn't need to be shut down nearly as tight and we could get it down to maybe 1 out of 100 and with the vaccination, down to 1 out of 200 and the contact tracing would work. Right now, contact tracing is virtually worthless.

I am not going to play the race game on this one. I am in the first bunch to receive the vaccine, just behind the rest homes and the health care. That won't change. Almost all people that catch it once become true believers and take precautions to NOT get it a second time. Well, unless you are in the Health Industry. Or you are just plain stupid.

From what I can see, Covid can't be depended on doing the same thing every time. You can catch it and them build up immunities that last anywhere from 45 to 180 days. But after the immunity wears off, you can catch it again. You may not even have symptoms the second time around but you are a carrier and can spread it. Or it may kick you in the ass.

The idea is to get enough people immune to it at the same time to refuse the virus hosts and it just dies out on it's own in a couple of weeks or more. Just like they did with the Spanish Flu, Polio, Small Pox, H1N1, Sars and just about every other Pandemic on the books whether a vaccine was found or not. Of course, even the Black Plague operated the same way by removing the host the hard way. If enough people don't take precautions, there are enough hosts left that the Virus has somewhere to grow. The idea is to remove the host from the virus or the virus does it for you.
