For any business that makes less then 5 million per year...I'd treat them differently then a big corporation. Honestly, allowing for a few more years of a stable minimum wage would spare on competition and that's just what this country needs. As for Microsoft, intel, google, etc...Well, let's raise it to 15 dollars per hour.

San Francisco is high demand real estate. It's very expensive to maintain, and the construction and remodeling never ceases. And, SF has a lot of parks. You'd be surprised how many businesses skirt regulations. Those Asian massage parlors are providing happy endings. There are too many shananigans going on for the regulators to keep pace.

But, for a business like Amoeba Records on Haight Street a $15 minimum wage might be fatal.

The fast food worker robot has already been invented. It's just waiting for the numbers to reach parity. They don't spit in your drink. They don't live in rent controlled housing. They don't steal from the register, don't qualify for Obamacare and don't smoke rock.

Even Icons like Gladstones on the pier have been driven out by the anti-business climate. The Market Street restaurants will have raise prices 50% or more to compensate, meaning a great many will go under.

The parking police are hard asses in SF. We parked at 21st Amendment Brewery. The sign was behind a tree. It changed to illegal parking at 4pm or something. The electric parking enforcement car came up with a tow truck trolling behind it. The bouncer alerted us and we ran out and barely saved an impoundment.

I suppose I could live there if I had to. I've had a few pretty fun nights partying there but I thought it was not very pretty. Flat and featureless with lots of heat and humidity. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with lots of cultural diversity, nice weather (generally) and some of the best restaurants, music, art and theater you can find. Plus the most highly educated and innovative workforce on the planet thanks to its proximity to Silicon Valley. If I could afford it, I'd love to live there. It's worth 3x Dallas for the people who have the money for it.

In 1989 3,162,000 or 50% LESS working at minimum wage of the 62,000,000 people working at hourly wage
In 2009 there were 3,572,000 people working at minimum wage of the total work force of 72,897,959 at hourly wage or 4.9%
Finally in 2013 there were 3,300,000 working at minimum or 4.3% of 76,744,186 that work at hourly or 4.3%

AND of the 3.3 million working at minimum wage:
Among employed teenagers paid by the hour, about 21 percent earned the minimum wage or less, compared
with about 3 percent of workers age 25 and the remaining at age 16 to 24 years,1,797,000 at or below minimum wage.
