Thomas Jefferson never wrote that. It's made up.

No, not made up like you would want to think, but even a paraphrase needs quotations.

Thanx for tryin'.

The end of democracy...(Quotation)

Status: This exact quotation has not been found in the writings of Thomas Jefferson. It may be a mistaken amalgamation of the author's comments in the above 1994 reference with a real Jefferson quotation. Jefferson wrote in 1825 to William Branch Giles of "vast accession of strength from their younger recruits, who having nothing in them of the feelings or principles of ’76 now look to a single and splendid government of an Aristocracy, founded on banking institutions and monied in corporations under the guise and cloak of their favored branches of manufactures commerce and navigation, riding and ruling over the plundered ploughman and beggared yeomanry."2 Chomsky's 1994 book quotes Jefferson's 1825 letter to Giles and then comments that "[Jefferson] warned that that would be the end of democracy and the defeat of the American revolution."

Thanks for proving it's a made up quote from Jefferson.

It's something NOAM CHOMSKY, a commie, said. Not Jefferson.

So next time, post the quote with Chomsky's mug attached, and the date 1994.

I at one time thought the supreme court was right in Citizens United by letting billionaire super pacs run wild. I now see how that has allowed a few bilionaires to control the political system and buy puppets like rubio to do what they are told. 2016 is the year we can tell the rubio feces eaters to GO TO HELL.

And stay there
The junior boy wonder will not get 1. the nomination or 2 the Veep nod. His role is secondary.

Citizen's United allows foreigners like Prince Talal who owns almost the controlling share of Fox News and many other American media and other companies to exert direct and potent influence over our elections. The Justices who allowed Citizen's United to go forward, creating this "run by foreigners" loophole would've been strung up by their neckties by our founding fathers..

I know you nanny state types want to protect the rubes from themselves, but like I have said many times, if a retard keeps getting back in line for a refill of their piss cup, after being shown countless times their favorite propaganda outlet has lied to them, they DESERVE to be lied to.

If a voter allows their mind to be manipulated by a slick ad chock full of manufactured bullshit, that is on them, not the people who made the ad.

Wow. Look at you, pulling assumptions out of your ass. I guess that's all we can expect from someone with an intellectual bandwidth of a bumper sticker.

All memes & no substance. make a cogent argument with facts & maybe you'll come across as more than a troll with nothing to bring to the debate table.

LOL.
Ok, Socialism has never worked in the history of the planet...
Sander's policies are downright dangerous.
Something he has in common with Trump.
I haven't heard of any policies that would add to the deficit and that is the most problematic features of the Sanders ideology.

I promise you, there are a lot of people laughing their asses off right now at your claim I support Trump.

Idiot.

You just made a complete fool of yourself. That's what happens when retards build strawmen.

You are almost as funny as the tards who think I voted for Obama just because I deconstruct the lies they parrot.

sure. sure. I believe you. Nobody but you & that lever behind the curtain.

Stop listening to the voices in your head. I'm sick and tired of tards like you.

And yes, if Trump is the GOP nominee, I will not vote the top of the ticket. Again. Just like I have since 2006.

I will vote on state level offices and measures, but not President.

Absent a Clinton, I'm not so sure the dems can compete in money, but the fact that Trump seems poised to win the gop nomination despite being pretty disfavored by the money guys .... would tend to support CI not being so bad.

Personally, I'm not opposed to the money, so long as all ads disclose who paid for them. But, imo, the scotus did overreach in disallowing congress's limits on spending by outside groups in the few weeks right before an election. I think is shows the hypocrisy and vapid logic to the rights "orginalism" approach. Jefferson and Madison may have foreseen a man landing on the moon, but there's no possible way they could have foreseen electronic media. 250 years ago, or even in the age of Hearst and Greeley, a rich man could buy media, but a poor man could buy a printing press. Voters would have all the information candidates wanted to impart simply from their own ads and free actual news time. The ads really detract from debate.

okey dokey then. one less vote from you = all the more better. I voted for ralph nader in 2000. lookey what happened when a lot of people did that. I changed from indie on paper to (D) in 2006 to be able to vote in the primaries & get joe liebertoady, our state senator o-u-t. I remain a registered (D) since for exactly the same reason as before... do your assumptions come from the voices in YOUR head?

I have not made any assumptions. Only you have.

You got miffed when I pointed out one of your bumper stickers was incorrect, and you jumped to all sorts of retarded conclusions from there.

And stay there

I suppose this was some pathetic attempt at satire, but even its basic assumptions are completely erroneous:

1. Citizens United merely corrected a previous decision which upheld a Michigan law that specifically exempted labor unions from its restrictions on campaign contributions. (In other words, what's good for the goose must also be good for the gander.)

2. Super PACs were not affected by this decision.

3. Your vulgar diatribe against Rubio proves that your only concern about our political system is that control by the liberal Democrat media is now being challenged.
I suspect that Trump said the decision was bad. These are strange days we live in. With Trump tricking so called conservatives into believing that he is a conservative and anything he says is therefore acceptable, once deeply held positions are now negotiable.

I find it rather pathetic. And for the record I've always been of the opinion that citizens United was a bad judgement but my reasons aren't based on law so they have no merit.

All money should be removed from campaigns and they should be publicly financed with public entities like PBS being REQUIRED by law to give candidates a certain amount of free airtime. Since we're paying for public tv we should demand this at the very least.

I am shocked. You actually produced an insult without the terms piss and rube. You're growing up finally son!

It's now time to point out, once again, the reelection rate of incumbents in the House and Senate.

Think of all your favorite "campaign finance reform" laws passed by Congress and decisions by the Supreme Court over the past half a century. The ones which tightened campaign finance, and the ones which loosened campaign finance.

Then take a look at the impact these laws and decisions have had on our American Politboro:

ZERO! Okay?

ZERO IMPACT.

Congress has single digit approval ratings, but 98 percent of the House is re-elected every time! COME ON! Hello?

Your poor, dumb, rubes are being led around by the nose.

Do you seriously bleev your Congressmen and Senators are going to do anything to hurt their chances of re-election? All this talk about MONEY is a diversion. It's theater for the rubes.

The real problem is the acquisition of power by the federal government. The more power you centralize at the top, the easier it is to capture.

You stupid idiots demand more power be centralized at the top, and then you act all shocked, just shocked, when it is captured! Then you drop to your knees and fellate a guy like Bernie Sanders who says we NEED MOAR POWAH AT THE TOP!

Can you possibly be more stupid?
