Especially considering that the arctic has been ice free in the past and no doubt will be at some time in the future. We have been measuring the ice for such a very short period of time, drawing conclusions on melting ice as significant to the overall grand scheme of things just doesn't measure up.

And the maximum extent of arctic ice this year is the 14th lowest in the 46 years they've been measuring it. Which means the arctic is gaining ice again after some years of a lot of melt.
