Don’t ask the birds.

Of California’s 23 vulnerable bird species studied (barn owls, golden eagles, road runners, yellow-billed cuckoos…), scientists have found 11 are now experiencing at least a 20% decline in their population growth rates because wind turbines and solar panels are killing them and/or destroying their limited-range habitat.

California’s mild-winter Mediterranean climate is home to some of Earth’s rarest bird ecosystems.

But California is also where some of the most ardent supporters of “green” energy policies reside.

Disproportionately due to California’s activist-level insistence on converting their energy infrastructure from fossil-fuel-based to renewables-based, the US as a whole has facilitated a 300% to 9,400% increase in wind and solar energy generation, respectively, from 2009 to 2019. Nation-wide, the solar power industry alone is poised to detonate from a 0.4 GW energy capacity in 2009 to 75 GW by 2025.

But...the polar bears.... :deal:

Wind....fringe

Solar....fringe

Fossil fuels....not so much

California imports more and more power every year which is sad considering they claim to be the 7th largest economy in the world.

California also grows tons of our food, which is getting very expensive. It costs billions of dollars to pump all that water that grows our food.

Now on top of that we get a little chopped eagle in our salads. You can't make this garbage up.

Wind power is working out quite well; growing rapidly worldwide. How're the fuel bills on your fossil fuel plants doing? Oil came DOWN to $102/bbl yesterday. And the pollution? You don't mind the pollution? Why would you want to pay more for energy that pollutes the air and the water? Doesn't make sense.

Why does the Left hate wildlife so much?

You are advocating solar and wind which are inefficient producers of electricity.

Solar and wind are so inefficient they must cover the earth by the square mile.

Cheap? Electricity rates are rising rapidly in California.

Cheap? Wind and solar cost trillions. 100's of times more than fossil fuels.

Solar and Wind, being so inefficient we must now build more which results in the products from fossil fuels being consumed at a greater rate by the solar and wind manufacturing industry.

The more you build the more you use fossil fuels.

Solar and wind destroy the earth by the square mile. They are pollution.

Ignorant poster ignoring the actual point of the article is ignorant.

Thank goodness Germany has all that cheap wind energy.
Otherwise their highest electricity prices in the world might be even MORE than triple ours.

True. We can run the lights on wind and solar, but industry requires fossil fuels... lots of fossil fuels. Even better (or worse) EV's will require either fossil fuel or nuclear generated electricity.

Gangbusters!

Our plains/plains states: in Farmer's fields where they get from $4000-$10,000 per turbine.
Farmers and Ranchers love it!

Renewable energy

Oklahoma generated 45% of its total electricity from renewable resources in 2021.

Oklahoma generated 45% of its total in-state electricity from renewable resources in 2021, an increase from about 10% in 2011. About 91% of the state's renewable generation came from Wind energy, but other renewable energy resources contributed to in-state generation, including hydropower and, to a lesser extent, biomass and solar energy.85

In 2021, wind energy accounted for 41% of Oklahoma's total in-state electricity net generation, a larger share than in all but Three other states—Iowa, South Dakota, and Kansas.86 megawatts of wind capacity, which was 85% of Oklahoma's total generating capacity from all renewable resources.

No one wants to see birds killed and if these numbers are reliable, more needs to be done to avoid bird strikes. But I will make two comments on this study. One: by choosing to establish figures for "priority species" they have guaranteed that the species they examine will already have threatened population levels, thus maximizing the numbers of species suffering "population-level" affects.

Two: though I do not fault the authors for this omission, no where is any attempt made to provide a comparison to the impact on these same species by producing the same amount of power with fossil fuel technology

Kill birds and fill landfills, that’s what wind power is all about!

I see abu afk disagrees with this post

Everything in this post is a 100% true. Except the little chopped eagle part. In truth the parts of the eagle are big enough to throw out before processing

Stupid post..
It you're worried about birds you can go Solar.
Solar is the cheapest of all power generators.
I can bump up my OPs to that effect if you like.

I prefer that to a 7' sea Level Rise, scorching temps, more droughts, etc.

Call me when the ocean rises 0.07 inches.

California solar power plants ignite birds mid-flight

Where is abu afk, you know he/she is creeping around, reading the posts.

How is wind power working out?

One out of wind turbine in new england is always broke.

Recently are electric bills doubled to pay for renewable energy.

Abu Afk tells us this is the cheapest power ever created yet it costs us more than any other source of power.

That neans one or rwo things. We dont need to subsidize renewables. They are dirt cheap.

And we need a federal investigation into why the renewables are ripping off the consumers, us. Why do democrats give our money to renewables when according to abu afk renewables make more profit than all ither firms of energy, cause they are the cheapest.

Why are we being ripped off
