It appears that Trump wants to make a $1 Trillion dollar deal with China and pitch the idea that China open various ventures here on American soil. Now THAT's the sort of "America First" stuff I would expect from Trump. Remember not that long ago when MAGA demanded that China not be permitted to own any land in America? Yeah -- me too. Anyway, Trump is headed to China along with Elon Musk, Tim Cook, BlackRock, Blackstone, VISA, and others to pitch this wonderful partnership with "America's greatest enemy." Isn't life all Skittles and Unicorns?

Reports that President Trump is considering a deal that would allow China to invest $1 trillion in the U.S. are setting off alarm bells among conservative Republicans.

China last October reportedly offered to ramp up investment in the U.S. in exchange for the Trump administration rolling back national security restrictions on Chinese deals and providing a break on tariffs for any factories built on American soil, according to Bloomberg.

I'll be interested to see how the bootlickers respond to this new Trumpian, "America First," excursion.

Some responses from the MAGA crowd:

Steve Johnson, a self-described "America First/MAGA conservative," tweeted, "China is our number 1 enemy and it's not even close. It's crazy after what they did in 2020 and have been doing, that we continue relationships with them. I would label them a terrorist country if I was President. They have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans using cartels bringing in fentanyl and bring over viruses into our Country. They have Chinese national spy's in our Universities and have setup illegal bio labs as well, etc… F–– China." MAGA Republicans push back on $1 trillion Trump investment deal - NewsBreak

Fox News host Laura Ingraham lamented a report that President Donald Trump was considering making a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping to allow China to build factories in the U.S., quoting the article saying the president was “on verge of making [a] massive error.”MSN

We got China out of Panama, Venezuela, Argentina, soon Cuba, and Iran's discount oil is being blockaded, so China is being rolled back in our hemisphere.

I'm with the GOP conservatives on this one. We don't need China's cash and more Chinese here in the US buying up farmland around US military bases, or other "Trojan Horse" spies in US businesses.

You probably should have put up a poll on this.

I like polls but 95% of the board prefer not to participate.

Anyway ... I appreciate your honesty. Most of Trump's followers will turn themselves into pretzels defending EVERYTHING he does.

Before the start of Donald Trump’s first presidential term, soybeans were the absolute largest U.S. agricultural export to China. In 2016, China bought $13.8 billion worth of U.S. soybeans, which accounted for over 40% of their total soybean imports and more than half of all American soy exports

China is projected to import around $3.08 billion in U.S. soybeans

Trump cost farmers $10 billion

Trump probably wants the US GDP to explode so he gets more tax revenue to spend, but dealing with China here isn't worth the risk.

The downside is that we still need to deal with the $40T debt.

China just gets its soybeans from Brazil now. And we aren’t selling as much to China.

We do need chinas cash and they need ours. We already had trade deals in place that worked for both sides. Who told you those deals were bad and that China was taking advantage of us? Trump? He was wrong. He’s a blowhard who talks out his ass.

I don’t want them necessarily buying farmland around our military bases either. Or all our ports. But we still want to do business with China.

Or I should say the rest of the world.

The rest of the world invests in America. Not just China. But because of trump they are all investing less. Don’t try to spin that as a good thing.

Trump clearly is not concerned about the debt. DOGE was just to cut programs that benefit the public to justify trumps tax breaks and bbb

Copilot says farmers are getting clobbered by Trump's policies, losing $44b, selling less & gas and fertilizer costing more.

I was listening to Farmers talk about what trump has done to them. One guy said he can only hope trump fixes what he broke. But that will never happen.

President Trump's state visit to China will be closely watched in the American heartland, where his trade war has resulted in grain farmers losing considerable business from international buyers.

SHERLOCK: I feel slightly more optimistic than I did a year ago. A year ago, we had no idea what was going to happen with trade. You know, the trade talks were being blown up. We were told we should just get used to selling domestically. Well, we can't use it all here in the United States. We produce too much.

SIEGLER: Sherlock says the administration has come around on understanding the benefits of trade, but still, more than a year later, there's no long-term deal with China.

SIEGLER: Twenty-five million metric tons is actually less than what China bought from American farmers before Trump launched his latest trade war. In 2022, it was 30 million metric tons. Before Trump's first term, it was 36 million metric tons. All of this has people in farm states questioning what the point of all of this even was.

So please don’t praise trump when he gets them to buy 25 million metric tons of soybean. He still cost us.

These are the unintended consequences people like trump don’t think about. Or the straight of Hormuz. They didn’t think about that. And fired the navy guy who would have warned him because Pete hegseth didn’t like him.

Trumps going to China to get them to buy 25 metric tons of soy. They used to buy more till we drove China to Brazil.

Americans only want to buy and sell to Americans? Idiots. Correll

Maybe China will be like.... if you want the rare earth minerals, we control this conversation.

Here's how Chinese nationals gather information here in the USA (and globally):

Trump's tariffs and BBB tax breaks are spurring CAPEX spending and are reducing the trade deficit with China.
Your claim that the "world" is investing less in America because of Trump is a lie.

That is a serious vulnerability. China still processes nearly all rare earth metals. It will take years for the US to catch up.

Patience little grasshopper. Wait and see if Trump makes good deals for the US, or if he gives away the farm.

I hope congress implements the DOGE savings, that will be $213b saved.

No it's a ******* provable fact.

Foreign governments are not completely stopping their purchase of U.S. debt, but their relative share of ownership has been shrinking. While foreign entities held about 50% of publicly held U.S. debt in the past, that figure dropped to roughly 30% by early 2026, as the total U.S. debt increased dramatically

Our trade deficit is shrinking because they are buying less from us.
