  • Do private insurers lay off those who are benefits specialists?
  • What do doctors do in terms of paying off their school loans when their compensation will be lower?
  • Since my employer no longer has to pay for a portion of my plan does my paycheck get hit with the whole amount and then I have to stand in line?
  • How many doctors will retire vs. dealing with this and how would we deal with the shortages?
  • How would we deal with illegals who don't qualify for UH?
  • How would we deal with International students? Free healthcare?
  • How do existing or soon to be future bills get paid? Do we flip a switch? How does budgeting work?
  • Is Dental included?
  • How do insurance companies deal with major loss of revenue, EPS sans layoffs? With layoffs won't our unemployment rise and these people will now get free health insurance. Won't that strain our budget further?
  • Will private hospitals become public since they have to rely on one source of revenue? US Gov't.
  • Will prescription drugs be free? How will drug companies continue to invest in R&D with their profits capped? More than 50% of new medical procedures and drugs come from the US.
Thank you

The short answer is it doesn't.

Several on stage last night seemed to believe otherwise. I am genuinely curious. I agree with you.

If it works like Medicare, it will be farmed out to the same insurance companies that are screwing is now.

They don't actually believe in anything they're saying must less intend to deliver on anything they say. Afterall they all claim to be the polar opposite of Donald Trump and Trump has a nasty habit of delivering on his promises.

I've heard plenty of stuff but it may be much simpler in practice. The gov't could set the rules for what an who gets covered, as opposed to the private insurance companies like now. Then the gov't might just contract out the entire system to the private sector which would compete for the contracts. Not unlike how tanks and jets get built. Maybe...

Could one entity absorb such a massive contract? Or are you saying each state may do it? It is more complex, you agree, than how some people present it.

As Trump said, "Who knew healthcare was so complicated?". It is as complex as it gets but there are plenty of examples of systems in other countries. That is where I'd start. Look around and see what actually works, not what a particular ideology says should work. Maybe the Feds should set the minimum parameters and give each state a pot of money and let them experiment? After a few years get rid of the worst performers and evaluate again in another few years.

What other country shifted from private pay to one Gov't payor?
