How many policies being pushed today in the West would be deemed treasonous just 40 years ago?

Please feel free to add to any of the asinine policies I list here, as long as they are from any democratic Western nation.

Let's consider some politician coming out in any nation in the West (as this is not just a U.S issue) with his or her 5 followers (most certainly deemed radical) in the 1970's or 80's.

Now this platform is a varied one, some issues you see in the U.S but not in Europe/Canada others in Canada/Europe but not the U.S. Regardless, some of the new fake liberal policies being pushed:

Open Borders
Asylum for all (some even welcoming 1 million without being vetted in Germany).
Silence of your speech if it offends ANYONE
Prison time if you speak the truth but it is inconvenient or hurts someones feelings
Banning of ALL guns (from a former police chief in Canada at that)
No questioning of ones citizenship in your nation
Death to a born baby if the intention was an abortion.

Again, feel free to add to this list. Now, would that person be deemed anything but a security threat? Would these policies not be viewed as treasonous and helping enemies of Western nations?

You could say honestly that you could see these policies being implemented in East Germany. There must be some big dollar funding behind the scene from China. I would take poor odds to make this wager. Many of these policies are designed to hurt a nation as far as I am concerned and any enemy state would wisely be funding these initiatives.

Just look at the democrat party platform and you have a full catalog.

I wouldn't use the word “treasonous” here, as treason covers only a very narrow category of evil, and several of the evils that you've listed that fall well outside of what treason covers.

I'm not going to go into detail right now, but I'd add several having to do with the mainstreaming of degenerate sexual deviancies such as homosexuality and transsexualism, especially where agendas relating to these are being promoted to and imposed on young children.

You people misuse the word treason to the point that it is practically meaningless, just like the word "socialism". It's a big scary hyperbolic word to put on shit you don't like.

No smoking in your own yard in some places.

I call it treason and I refer to it just as it sounds. Of course, it has degrees. I think Open Borders, silencing speech (except in the extreme, encouraging violence scenario), prison for inconvenient confrontations, among others, would be treasonous to the very fabric of a society.

You cannot have capitalism, innovation and true progress without free speech. Nobody should have a monopoly on expression. Silencing, is one of the highest forms of treason and human right violations. Death may be worse, but spiritually, the suppression of a society is almost as evil.

I'm not some old fogey. I may not be 20 anymore, but that's a good thing. I'm much wiser, experienced and well read. I'm open minded to ideas, there are many in there 20's right now who have been indoctrinated to believe any and all opinions contrary to theirs must be destroyed. That's treasonous to me, in particular when I consider how many have died for liberty and human rights.

Sounds like the words a traitor would say.

You used the word “treason” correctly. There are several definitions of the word, including the following:

“The action of betraying someone or something. [Example], doubt is the ultimate treason against faith.”

treason definition - Google Search

It is possible to betray your country without meeting the Constitutional definition of the crime of treason. I think advocacy for open borders is treason; using identity politics to divide the populace creating jealousy, distrust and hostility is treason; politicians who use elective office to maintain power and enrich themselves with total disregard for the welfare of their constituents is the ultimate treason.

Treason in the Unites States is rampant and commonplace and although it is not totally confined to a particular party, it is most obvious in those who identify with the far left.

I'm 79 years old and I have witnessed the deterioration of my country and its values. All those who have contributed to the economic and moral decline of the U.S.A. are traitors.

The founders were wise to give treason such a narrow definition. It prevents tyrants from just executing people for opposing them. Your loose definition is the same one used by every dictator ever, an arbitrary "crime" that makes it very easy to shut people up while preserving a facade of legality.

I didn't write the dictionary, and I don't have a monopoly on word definitions. Neither do you. The English language describes various types of treason. Only treason as specifically described in the U.S. Constitution is punishable by death. Other countries may define treason differently; however, my post made it clear that I was referring to the laws of this country (USA).

Shockedcanadian used the word properly. You mistakenly assumed there was only one definition of the word and called him out. I stated that advocacy for open borders is treason and it is. It is a betrayal of the United States by definition; however, it is not the Constitutional crime of treason. You apparently don't know the difference.

You are simply being argumentative and I have no time for such foolishness; therefore, you have the last word.

Edited to add: The founders did not define the word treason. The word has always been a part of the English vocabulary and has always had multiple meanings. What the founders did was define the crime of treason which is punishable by death. My definition of treason is not “loose” as you claim; to the contrary, mine is inclusive and accurate and your definition is limited and erroneous.

As far as this country and it's laws are concerned the legal definition is the one that matters, any others are just a matter of meaningless partisan argument.

Are you referring to "hate crimes" or being labeled a "racist" or "bigot?"

I agree with everything you have said, except I think it cheapens the Constitutional term "treason" which applies to giving aid and comfort to enemies in hostile conflict with the United States. For example, the Rosenbergs committed treason by passing nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union.

The people who promote the policies you have listed have certainly violated their citizenship obligations to support and defend the Constitution. As such, they should not be permitted to hold public office.

Our elected officials / politicians spend their time, energy, focus and taxpayer cash governing for Mexico’s people...that’s fucking treason...PERIOD!
