Or another way to look at it is that of the $160 billion we spend on illegals, $4 billion MORE could have gone to put them up in hotels instead of providing that to Israel. IOW, you’re more upset about giving $4 billion to Israelis than $160 billion to illegal aliens.

Arguing about the spending priorities of American tax-payer money on American agendas has nothing to do with giving away American tax payer money to foreign welfare queens.

It would be a good deal for America since Israel is America's most reliable and capable ally, and the aid gives the US more influence over Israeli policy in the ME and parts of central Asia, which means more US influence over the ME and parts of central Asia. The was the original reason the US sharply increased aid to Israel after Israel, without US help, kicked the Soviets out of the ME in the 1960's and 1970's.

However Netanyahu is correct that Israel needs to build up its own defense industries to become less dependent on the US since Biden at times withheld shipments of arms because his poll numbers were slipping in areas with large Muslim populations. Moving some of the aid to R@D would benefit both countries.
