Correct, "the left" is not a party. The Democratic Party is not really much of anything definable, but could be viewed as slightly left vis-à-vis the Constitution. Yet, if we consider the Constitution to be the center, then often the other half of the two-party-dictatorship is also often to its left. In general, they are such a mish-mash and so inconsistent that real ideologies cannot be attributed to them.
True conservatives would be slightly right and true liberals slightly to the left. In our Republic, there is no room for extremes of left and right. That would (and may) tear the Republic apart.

I do not know anybody that thought him a success, in his turn at public policy. He missed the DOGE savings, by over a billion Dollars. Apparently it wasn't in the salaries, after all, plus many have had to be rehired in order to keep the lights on in critical programs, after his indiscriminate firing spree. And, of course, none of us retirees are at all sure, what he wanted with our private (by law) social security information. When it comes to rockets, he OK, by transitioning to public policy, not so hot.
