Hillary Clinton calls for preschool for all children - LA Times

june 15 2015
Hillary Rodham Clinton put early childhood education at the front of her agenda Monday, pledging that as president she would work to make preschool available and affordable for every American child.

Clinton, who started her career as an advocate for the Children's Defense Fund, has long lobbied for expanding the availability of child care and preschool. At a day-care center here, she outlined proposals, including a substantial boost in federal spending to help cover the cost of schooling for 4-year-olds from low-income families.

I taught myself to tie my own shoe and I remember it forever.

Early childhood ed is total waste

Total crap.
The earlier kids start to learn, the better they get.
Kids here commonly start at 3 or 4, most being able to speak 2 or 3 languages before they start primary school.
This year's grade one can do Indonesian fluently (many with a local language such as Javanese as well), the majority are reasonably advanced in English (able to produce a description using grammatically reasonable sentences, including strings of adjectives), and aren't too bad in Mandarin.

The fat, ugly idiot Clinton bitch has managed to get this issue right. Someone with a brain must have helped her.

While Head Start participation benefited children's learning and development during their time in the federally funded preschool program, those advantages had mostly vanished by the end of 3rd grade, a new federal study finds.

In the final phase of a large-scale randomized, controlled study of nearly 5,000 children, researchers found that the positive impacts on literacy and language development demonstrated by children who entered Head Start at age 4 had dissipated by the end of 3rd grade, and that they were, on average, academically indistinguishable from their peers who had not participated in Head Start. If American kids actually learned something in our public school system you might have a point.

By the way, there is more to learning than sitting in a concrete building all day.

There is more to education in America than learning. Ahem.

So...you really don't want us to compete academically with the countries we are always compared to then.

Kids here do the usual 'three Rs", but a load of other stuff as well.
By the time they hit grade one, we're usually onto the world; grade 6 doing a lot about ethics and morals.
We start using microphones and a sound system from KG1. That's their first go at public speaking.
My grade 6 class starts with a discussion about the morals associated with disabled people, and their value in society.
All in English - a foreign language to these kids.

You can do that stuff if they learn from an early age.

Exactly how does sending children away from their parents a year earlier accomplish that?

Finland is consistently ranked number one in the world in education. Their kids don't go to school until the age of seven and they rarely ever get assigned homework.

No no... Not even close. Not even the government is tryng to do that... It's just a by product of their true goals

I say we all become Democrats and bring some sense to that party. We'll take control of the Democratic convention and nominate the Republican nominee. Later that autumn we'll enjoy football and the absence of annoying political ads for the presidency.
