The four Klamath Dams were build from 1918 through 1964 in far northern California. They did diminish or stop spawning of salmon on the Klamath River and indigenous populations in that area hated that. The dams were built to provide electrical power but only provided about 3% of the electricity used in that area which loss of will be no big loss. Apparently fire fighting personnel worked with State to ensure no loss of fire fighting ability in northern California though it's hard to imagine that loss of four big lakes created by the dams would not diminish water available for firefighting. But I don't know all the details there or how much we can trust the media to report it honestly.

In short, I am withholding judgment on this to see how it all plays out. I am all for not having dams where dams aren't needed unless they improve the ecology and quality of life, but I don't know whether taking down the Klamath Dams will ultimately be a good thing or bad thing.

There are I think 195 countries in the world and of those only 36 have populations greater than the State of California even with California bleeding legal population. That definitely creates problems for California that most other states don't have.

It already has when the CA state legislature and Newsom passed a law that Insurance companies couldn't charge what they needed to... the companies dropped their clients and moved away... its a total mess... I live in AZ and I fully expect my insurance to go up because of CA and it sucks...

Nice post. You compared the desert cities of Phoenix and Vegas to Los Angeles. They could not be more different in terms of fighting brush fires around population centers. Vegas, Phoenix, have literally know brush similar to California surrounding those cities.

California needs two things but to get there they need one thing first. Trump, unless they embrace Trump California will continue to have political problems.

Clearing the brush and having cheap plentiful cheap electricity are two things needed to fight fires in California. California has plenty of water. Just no cheap electricity to run those pumps that hunger for electricity.
