Hegseth vote to take place tonight at 9 pm Eastern

I was also in the US Army, which in and of itself, wouldn't make me qualified to be the head of our DOD or a good statesman, serving the American people in the capacity of a governor or legislator. Your reasoning is flawed and fallacious. It's completely based on warm and fuzzy feelings.

All I did was post a picture.

What is my flawed reasoning?

The posted picture proves that I think anyone who has ever served in the military should be SEC DEF?

Is that your take away from me posting a photo of Pete?

What "aggression" or violence is China and Russia committing against the United States? Don't get philosophical, or conceptual, but rather provide real evidence of direct Chinese or Russian violence against the United States.
.

Russians buzzing our carriers, actions in Syria, Negotiations with I ran and North Korea ... And the fact the President Biden's Administration and Congress has been supporting Ukraine ... The Chinese all the way from the World Health Organization, through Taiwan, and into Africa, Europe, and South America. None of it is a secret ... No need to ignore it trying to be a 'dove'.

Have they committed violence against America ... Nope ...
And that's why we need to stand up against their aggression ...

I am not interested in waiting for them to attack ... Nor interested in attacking them.
That's why the incoming Administration indicated they wouldn't take military options off the table ...
Because any retard knows you don't hamstring your ability to bring something to the table worth bargaining with or against.

But ... Following your line of thinking ... I can see where you don't understand that.

.

Almost there for the confirmation...

Congrats Pete!

Russians buzzing our carriers,

If the Russians had their carriers near our shores, and they were arming the enemy that we are currently at war with, resulting in the death of 100K Americans, we would "buzz" them too. We've been doing that to each other for decades, and it's really easy for us to improve our relations with Russia. We could start by not extending a Cold War dinosaur into the former Soviet Bloc, in Russia's sphere of influence and neighborhood. How would we like it if Russia was deploying its military in Mexico and building military bases?

I'm a socialist, and I might have a "soft spot"/bias for Russia in my heart more so than I have for other countries other than the USA, but I would be in favor of war with Russia if they were deploying their troops and hardware in Mexico, Canada, or any other country in the Western Hemisphere. I don't want the Russian military anywhere on our continent, building bases and deploying their troops and missiles. I don't want them here. They can stay over there, not here.

There's The Golden Rule. Don't do unto others, what you don't want done to you.

According to Jesus, the whole law (of God) rests upon that foundation. The Golden Rule.

Actions in Syria...

Why the hell are we even there? According to Trump a few years ago, we were there for the oil:

As if we don't have our own oil. The Russians were there fighting ISIS, as invited guests by the Syrian government. We weren't invited, we just deployed our troops, and "F-U Syria, we're taking your oil." How is that in line with our values as Americans? Just moving in, invading other countries and taking their resources. Really?

Anyways, what direct action in Syria did the Russians take against the US, and even if that was the case, how does that apply to us today? Are they still killing Americans (assuming that's what occurred)? Did the Russian military and the US military start shooting at each other? When did this happen, and is it still happening now? Clearly there's nothing going on that would justify us seeing Russia as our mortal enemy.

We're the ones screwing with them in Ukraine and throughout Eastern Europe. So it's nonsense, to pretend that we're justified in seeing them as an existential threat to our country. We're over there poking the bear, they're not here doing the same thing to us. Again, I'm being repetitive...We're over there, they're not here. Hello?

Negotiations with Iran and North Korea ...

Iran and North Korea are their neighbors. Does Russia have to make them enemies, in order for us to have friendly relations with Russia? We could even have friendly relations with Iran and the DPRK/North Korea too, if we stopped saber-rattling.

And the fact the President Biden's Administration and Congress has been supporting Ukraine ...

What does that have to do with justifying maintaining an adversarial stance against Russia and China? We should have a cooperative, friendly relationship with them provided they're not trying to invade us or do us harm, militarily. Economic competition doesn't qualify or justify us going to war with our major competitors. We can turn that competition into mostly cooperation, and the way to achieve that isn't through threats of violence, much less waging war against them.

The Chinese all the way from the World Health Organization, through Taiwan, and into Africa, Europe, and South America. None of it is a secret ... No need to ignore it trying to be a 'dove'.

What the hell are you talking about? Be specific.

Have they committed violence against America ... Nope ...

Exactly, NOPE. Good answer. They haven't. If they had, I would be, most likely, in favor of going to war with them. War with them can very easily escalate to a nuclear exchange. We have to be careful, however, they can cross the line and even have socialists like me, in favor of the USA opening a can of whoop-ass on them, if they actually committed an act of violence against us. However, I'm not for saber-rattling or poking the dragon or the bear.

And that's why we need to stand up against their aggression ...

You haven't shown yet, any reason for us to continue with the saber-rattling or this adversarial stance against them. All that does is create short-term profits for our war profiteers. Our military-industrial complex and that of our allies love having boogiemen around the world, they can point to and pretend their governments need more of their weapons. Having enemies for the war industry is lucrative, hence all of the bullshit in our media and coming from our government about Russia and China, the two biggest, most profitable boogiemen, for American and European defense contractors and weapons manufacturers.

I am not interested in waiting for them to attack ...
People with your mentality, create the conditions for us to be attacked. I believe in peace through strength, but that doesn't include poking the dragon or the bear. There's a good way of showing one's capabilities and strength and a stupid, rash, dangerous way of doing it. Saber-rattling and poking other major nucl;ear powers is stupid and extremely dangerous.

Nor interested in attacking them.
Good, because otherwise, we're up the creek without a paddle. If America is out for blood or fighting a war with China and Russia, when these countries are not a clear and present danger to our existence, threatening us with imminent destruction, and loss of our sovereignty and freedom, then we shouldn't even think, much less say anything about going to war with them. It shouldn't even enter into the discussion.

That's why the incoming Administration indicated they wouldn't take military options off the table ...

It shouldn't be on the table, unless there's a clear and present danger to our existence as a nation, from a direct, imminent threat to our lives. China and Russia are not behaving that way with us hence we shouldn't behave this way with them. Saber-rattling, poking the dragon and the bear, is just extremely dangerous and stupid. Dumb. Nothing good will come out of it.

Because any retard knows you don't hamstring your ability to bring something to the table worth bargaining with or against.

Every disagreement doesn't justify having violence as a "solution" on the table. Think about that. Is that how you relate to others? Threatening them with violence, when they haven't done that to you? We have 700+ military installations around the world, including some right on China's border or a few miles away from it. We have nukes in Asia, pointing at China and Russia (We're a freaking empire - we make the Romans look like preschoolers). Can you imagine if China and Russia were doing that shit to us here on the American continent? It's just ridiculous. The Golden Rule. Remember it, recite it: Don't Do Unto Others, What You Don't Want Done To You.

But ... Following your line of thinking ... I can see where you don't understand that.

I understand much more than you will ever understand.

Nice dissertation ... I was simply describing the aggression exhibited ... And not trying to justify or excuse any of it.

In reality ... You face aggression with enough force to counteract its influence ...
And justification is simply reserved for those who want to determine whose fault it may be.

Likewise ... Justification is more a matter considered after the fact.
That's exactly what I meant ... Do unto others and meet aggression with aggression ... Or bend over bitch

It's amazing you thought you understood anything I posted ...

Is that what it is? We're expanding NATO, a Cold War military alliance that is inherently hostile to Russia, historically, operationally, doctrinally..etc, right up to Russia's Western borders. If Russia were doing that to us here on the American continent, we would go to war with them. So why are we doing that to them? We had American politicians in Ukraine, giving speeches to the crowds in 2014:

Can you imagine if Russian politicians would've been here in Washington giving speeches to the MAGA protestors in January 2020? What would've been the response of our federal government? What do you think American politicians would do if Russia were meddling in our internal affairs in the same way that we meddled in theirs? We regularly, permanently, meddle in Ukraine, and Russia, with our "NGOs", at a much higher level than they do with us here at home.

We have 700+ military installations around the world, extending our hegemonic power throughout the Earth, and we want to pretend that China and Russia are the "aggressors"? The last person we need now as head of the DOD, is a hotheaded cowboy Jingoist, spreading misinformation about China's and Russia's supposed mortal threat to our existence. Demonizing China and Russia, in the minds of Americans, only pushes us closer to a catastrophic world war.

When that idiot gets put in charge, the DOD will start to fail...bigly!
The DOD is already doing better under Hegseth with re-enlistments and morale. So much for your military credibility.

Is that your take away from me posting a photo of Pete?

None of the generals and admirals will have any respect for him.

What was the point of you posting his US Army portrait? Was that supposed to prove something, concerning what we're discussing about his qualification? Why even post that?
