This is a pretty shocking poll. I see two possibilities to explain the poll results:

1. First, the tinfoil hat conspiracy theory possibility: A large percentage of those people polled were really liberals trying to skunk the results. They want Trump to run, thinking Biden\Whomever would actually beat him. This is usually called "Operation Chaos", where an organized group of people attempt to manipulate a poll in order to make people believe a certain thing.

2. The second and most logical possibility is this: The majority of people polled actually want Trump to run, and believe that he would beat Desantis.

"A 2024 Republican presidential primary poll shows former President Donald J. Trump holding a colossal 40-point lead over the rest of the potential field if he decides to run.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, obtained by the Hill, reveals that Trump drew 56 percent of respondents’ support, while 16 percent chose Gov. Ron Desantis (R-FL), making him the second leading candidate. Former Vice President Mike Pence garnered seven percent of the response if Trump were to run.

Trump has repeatedly teased and hinted at a 2024 bid since December 2020, including at CPAC earlier this year and a Georgia rally in March. He more recently told the New Yorker he is “very close to making a decision.”

DeSantis is a good man, I'm not so sure Trump carries a 40 point lead right NOW. I kinda really want to see Trump pick him as his VP. AFTER the GOP make Trump House Speaker just to really fry the Left's peanut brains.

I can't believe at this point the Left still think Trump is a cakewalk-- -- they've been down that road many times already and been wrong EVERY TIME.

Frankly, I can't see how they can feel good about running against Trump OR DeSantis with the platform they've got and the record Biddum has given them going in!

Trump has never won the popular vote

Of course. Things like low inflation and CPI rates, healthy retirement accounts, low oil prices, cheap gasoline, energy independence, abundant store shelves, working supply lines, a secure border, low crime and drug use, fewer COVID deaths, an honorable withdrawal from Afghanistan, fixing trade imbalances, a non-nuclear Iran and North Korea, and and peace in Europe.....

...have never been a popular thing with Democrats.

84 million voted against Trump in 2020
He has done nothing to convince them they were wrong

The Biden administration's incompetence hasn't convinced you yet? It will after another two years of what you're getting now.

Winger gets it wrong, it was only 81 million, but glad to see him admit NONE of them were votes FOR Joe. But the Winger is either a very bad LIAR or a total space cadet beyond all hope if he is hanging onto the notion that ANYONE in this country is holding out any hope or trust that Joe can or is even WILLING to pull the country out of his nosedive.

I would be SHOCKED and mortified if Biden isn't impeached and removed from office before the term is out.

That could very well happen. A Republican-held House and Senate are almost a certainty. This administration needs to be utterly destroyed in their credibility with the American people, and their power to do any further damage.

The fact that the Dems might actually vote to convict Biden once he's impeached should scare the hell out of thinking people. Harris with her finger on the nukes?

The Senate is far from certain

Poorly chosen Republican candidates makes it that way

Biden had a very good first year and a bad second year

We will see what the third and forth look like

He did not have a good first year. Inflation, high prices, and shortages started before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Biden’s first year saw 2 million jobs and a stock market up 28 percent

Jobs would have increased normally, even if we'd had a potato for President.

You do realized that we were just coming out of a global pandemic, after lockdowns, business shutdowns, and mass paranoia, right?

Neither is the stock market itself the only indicator of the economy. You're not taking into account the fact that the inflation rate skyrocketed from 1.4% in 2020, to 7% in only one year.

The unemployment rate did drop during Biden's first year, but the quit rate also increased. That was like taking one step forward, then one step backward.

The price of crude oil rose 62% during Biden's first year to $86 per barrel, the highest since 2014. Prices at the pump nearly doubled to $3.30 a gallon, and heating costs for households using natural gas were 30% higher than the previous Winter.

And despite the booming stock market and rising unemployment, Americans were more dismayed than they had been in a decade. Consumer sentiment dropped to its lowest level since 2011.

You see, it takes more than a vibrant stock market to make an economy.

Look you can’t have it both ways

If you say Biden had nothing to do with the increase in jobs, you have to admit he has no control over inflation and gas prices

It's true. Biden has no control over inflation and gas prices. His and his administration's idiotic energy and economic policies have released the dragon on this country. But they don't have a clue as to how they're going to put it back in the cage.

Inflation and high gas prices are affecting economies globally.

Do Republicans have a solution ?
