Habits of the "rich", habits of the "poor"

And networking does not mean facebook.

Only losers think facebook is networking.
Nope. Most networking I know happens after work, usually in sports venues like golf or a local fitness club. There is also professional organizations that have monthly meetings where a person can meet business people and other people in their profession.

For most people, Facebook is about families. Lets face it, it is very rare that networking with family will give you an edge in business.

Exactly business networking happens face to face not on line.

The question doesn't specify what kind of networking. The person spending 5 hours on Facebook can honestly answer yes to the question. Where is the value in that?

I see these lists of excuses and I have to conclude that what is really being said is that the poor have different priorities.

If being successful is important enough, then time can always be found to slowly change habits to successful ones.

It boils down to what a person thinks is important.

So, we are discussing habits of successful people. In that discussion, you seem to think that the successful person would spend more time in wasteful effort than in efforts that provide them a way forward toward their daily goal.

Do you know what a daily affirmation is?

I'm told regularly that "the rich" just got lucky and didn't deserve that and stole that from someone and didn't earn that and didn't build that 'n stuff, but to no surprise, they're also just trying harder.

Percentage of people who wake up at least 3 hours before work:
Rich: 44%
Poor: 3%

Percentage of people who are focused on accomplishing some single goal:
Rich: 80%
Poor: 12%

Percentage of people who write down their goals:
Rich: 67%
Poor: 17%

Percentage of people who maintain a To Do list:
Rich: 81%
Poor: 19%

Percentage of people who network five or more hours each month:
Rich: 79%
Poor: 16%

And my personal favorite:

Percentage of people who read at least 30 minutes or more daily for education or career reasons:
Rich: 88%
Poor: 2%

But I'm sure that's all just coincidence.

Must be easy to get up 3 hours before work when your the boss and don't get into work till noon.

Single goal? These people can't multi task?

If your working hard you don't have time to write things down.

Network 5 or more hours? Wasting time on Facebook isn't that impressive.

When your working 2 jobs and taking care of your family who has time to read 30 minutes? Just those inherit rich people who are barely working.

Let me tell you.nothing in the world I like doing more than getting up at 4 am when I have to be at work by 7...because that makes sense after putting my kids to sleep around 10....

Poor people..we be lazy and dumb...

Again, its a matter of priorities. You also seemed to have glommed onto just one little area of the information. To Me, the networking and proper management of time would be a better indicator, rather than what time I wake up. However, if it is important that you can successfully provide a comfortable living for yourself and your family, I think I would alter My daily habits to align more with those who have proven that their methods are useful.

Having 3 hours of free time before you have to be to work is a luxury. That or where it happens to fall when you're working a night shift.

Poor people are Yabbuts. Even when you tell them how to improve their lives they say "Yabbut that won't work for me. I can't do that."

I work 45 to 50 hours a week, went to school half time and managed to get 2 to 3 hours both before and after work.

As I stated, its a matter of priorities. If you don't want to develop habits that lead to being more successful, but rather make excuses for why you can't, then you will forever be locked in your little niche and have little cause to blame anyone for your condition but yourself.

I guess my parents fit the "poor"category since they were minimum wage earners...Dad was a janitor and Mom cleaned houses.
Both got up early and worked hard...and NEVER sought charity...and wound up owning our home.
They were highly successful in my memory, although growing up we could not afford what most took for granted...TV, car or phone (I got the latter two for my family w my 2nd job...after HS graduation.)
I learned my work and life habits from those people and now make 6 figures...and am married to an Attorney who makes more...
We are both the richer children of poor immigrants who worked hard to make it possible for us to succeed. We worked hard as well and continue to do so.
The "rich" and "poor" stereotyping in this thread is just that...and brings no understanding of either ...just resentment and division. It's time we cut that out and recognize that workers at all levels contribute to the wealth and opportunities for success in our nation.

The king was in his counting house,
Counting out his money;
The queen was in the parlour,
Eating bread and honey.
The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird
And pecked off her nose.[1]

Business people do not network on facebook. if you were as successful as you say you would know that.

Like most people know an apple is better for you than a snickers bar.

Oh I think time management and networking can help. More so time management than anything...but it can be hard when people are working 2 jobs and have kids...he'll it's hard with one job and 2 kids to have time for yourself.

It's a lot of talk..

I didn't say it was good, that is my point.

The Koch brothers may do all those things, but that has little impact on their success compared to inheriting the business. Rich people buy expensive cars too, that must be why they are successful.

We all have the same number of hours in a given week.

Tell me why do some people with a job and 2 kids have the time to make themselves more successful and others don't?

Many people inherit opportunity.
