Gun control in a city isn't ever going to be that effective. Like NYC who's criminals get 80% of their guns from out of state, criminals in Washington DC can just go to the next city.

Because they don't pay attention to the issue....ask them the real question...

"Would you approve a universal background check even though it will not stop one violent crime or mass shooting and it will increase your peril of breaking the law if you give a gun to a relative or friend, and it will now cost you more money to transfer a gun to a friend or relative...with no benefit to stopping violent crime or mass shootings?"

Ask the real question to those people and see how they vote....

It will force criminals to go out of state. This guy might have not shot all those people if he had more time to think about it and had to go out of state to get his gun:

Most non-gun owners I talk to are shocked when they find out all guns are not registered and in most states no kind of license is needed to own. The more facts people know the more I think they would support registration and background checks for all sales.

The UK has ALWAYS had a much lower rate of violent crime than the USA. However, since the gun regulations went into effect in the UK, those violent crime rates have skyrocketed, as has the use of guns in crimes.

You're welcome. The stats show that VIOLENT CRIME IS INCREASING THANKS TO THE ONEROUS GUN LAWS THAT PROTECT THE CRIMINALS AND PROSECUTE THE LAWFUL.

So everything else has remained constant and gun laws are for sure the reason? Why are crimes in Russia going down when there has been no change in gun laws? Why doesn't the US have the lowest crime rates since we have the most guns? Why are Denmark crime rates so low with very few guns?

Because the Danes are a homogenous society with low crime rates going back centuries. They are just generally nice people. It seems the crazy ones were killed when they went a Viking. And no, not everything has remained constant. In the UK there are far more immigrants from Europe and they have been a driving force in the escalation of crime. Especially so since the native population can't defend themselves.

We have higher crime rates because we have more people and the majority of violent crime is committed by gang bangers who are overwhelmingly black or Hispanic. When you compare the violent crime rates of Vancouver and Seattle the rates of white crime are virtually the same. When you add in the black on black, or Hispanic on Hispanic crime rates then the violence rate soars.

Gun owners = Why of course the rights of the minority can, and must, be decided by the majority.

You haven't lost any rights.

In fact no one loses any right to have a gun with this law. Those who will be prevented from getting guns lost their right to have one long before this law. When they committed a felony, or if they have mental problems or if they're a domestic abuser they lose their right to have a gun when they committed the original crime or when they were found to have mental problems.

Our society decided a long time ago that those people shouldn't have guns. All this law does is make sure that they don't get them. The honor system we've been using thus far has not worked and has gotten thousands of people killed.

But they will still get guns. This law won't stop them in any way. But im glad to see you agree voter id's won't cause anyone to lose any rights

No, it doesn't. I makes it harder for someone like ME to get a gun. I have no record, no adjudications due to mental defect, no restraining orders out on me.

an amazing thing has occurred in NY. you can't buy an old style AR 15 in NY from a dealer. but no one in NY paid attention to the safe act and registered their guns, so now people are still selling and trading these style guns with no background checks at all. another thing that is happening is people are buying the Safe Act approved AR's and for a $20 magazine release are converting them to the old style AR's. and the last huge thing going on is kids are building their own unregistered, unserialized, non background checked AR's AK;s R 700's out of 80% lowers. it's become a fad.

So...these geniuses at media matters report that these private sellers knew these under cover buyers would not be able to pass a background check............

AND THEY STILL SOLD THEM THE GUNS.....so how exactly is mandating that these private sellers go through a background check matter.......IF THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT BACK GROUND CHECKS TO BEGIN WITH.... and will sell guns to these people and not go through back ground checks even though it would be against the law......

Soooooo....you are now legally required to go through a back ground check....a felon goes to a gun show to buy a gun illegally, since he can't own a gun anyway....or, like the guy in the story....he can't have guns until the restraining order is pulled....and he knows that.....and when the guy goes to the private seller who tells him he needs a background check....and then he tells the private seller the he won't pass a check.....and the seller still doesn't care and sells the gun anyway.....

What good was the back ground check.....?????

It was still illegal to sell the gun to this guy in the first place....and if you don't care about the back ground check, because you don't think you will get caught or are willing to take the chance....again....what good is the back ground check....?????

Well, for one thing...their victims can't protect themselves....so they can rape, beat, extort, rob, and murder them without guns....if they want...so while the rich and famous, the Royal family and the politicians and the criminals all have guns....the average British citizen can be brutalized without much fuss on the part of the criminals....

They save the guns for other criminals...because the actual criminals have guns to defend themselves from other criminals...
