What the fuck? Putin could not possibly make Ukraine more of a tool against Russia with his insane invasion.
Invasion IS the tool against Russia. Half a million Russian men have now been killed or wounded as a result of Putin's descision. Russia has become a heavily sanctioned and isolated periah state recognized as lawless aggressor by 140 countries.
What is it you imagine that America would do that Putin didn't already inflict on Russia with his stupid land grab war?

Fact is that everything between Russia and Ukraine was well - as long as Russia had control over Ukraine's government.
Just as the USA wants/factually has, control over it's neighbors and even thousands of mls away.
Once the USA feels it's position "domination" threatened - it gets into a war - or the respective country accepts the overlord USA. So now, why should e.g. Russia be different or see things different??
Fact is also that Ukraine's government was corruption ridden - only the rich profiting. Basically nothing has changed in Ukraine - got enough Ukrainian refugees living in my town who keep confirming this. Corruption has only been reduced due to Ukraine's present government searching and scratching for every cent in order to buy weapons.
The USA as always - uses the pretext of DEMOCRACY to get involved in countries they want to grab or get into their fold. So opposition parties are sponsored - ending in the demise of Janukowytsch (thus Russia occupying Crimea - and supporting separatists in Ukraine) - and Janukowytsch being replaced by another Oligarch Poroschenko.
And both of them are now rubbing shoulders with Trump - amongst others against Zelinsky.
The USA and the EU continued to subvert Poroschenko since he wasn't 100% on their line of influence. Thus in 2019 they managed to replace him with Zelinsky. (to end corruption)
Putin wanted Crimea and these two separatist Republics - and Biden and the EU said NO. Whilst embarking onto a massive military buildup and modernization of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
Trump likes to boast about his 400 javelins - well Biden had send 7000 in the meantime. Putin was absolutely aware that sooner or later a US/NATO/EU boosted AFU would get into a counter attack. See Croatia against Serbia - same game and it took 5 years for Croatia and NATO to totally de-class Serbia's military.
Putin gave it a last try to get an arrangement in regards to Crimea and these two Republics - and Biden/NATO and the EU said NO. The rest of the story should be known.
Trumps, respectively the USA problem is that they can only offer what Putin had already demanded in 2014 and 2021. And Putin after horrendous economic and military losses now says - Fuck you USA, Fuck Ukraine, EU and NATO - now I want ALL with a peace-deal in between or not. And Zelinsky off course knows this.
However all this does not change the FACT, that before the US and EU got involved in the INTERNAL politics of Ukraine - that Putin had no ambitions towards occupying Ukraine. He never attacked nor threatened Ukraine between 2000 and 2014. After-all Janukowytsch was his boy in Kiev. He might very well have convinced Janukowytsch to rejoin the "glorious" Russian Federation.
Or simply keep the situation as it was - just as in regards to Belarus - which Putin also has never threatened. After all his boy Lukashenko resides in Minsk.
The same issue applies to Taiwan - endless bickering and subversive actions by the USA and Japan in regards to getting Taiwan to become a war-zone. (especially after they had failed to get HK into chaos) constantly since 15 years propagating every day - tomorrow the PRC will attack Taiwan.
Well off course, once Taiwan gets dumb enough (just like Ukraine) to allow for US military and direct influence to be stationed on Taiwan, the PRC will have no other choice but to occupy that ENTIRE Island province.
Just look at these US hystericals in regards to Panama or Greenland. Utmost important for US national security. - Oh my God Chinese companies runing Ports on Panama - how dare they!!
