Gov. Christie proposes 10% N.J. income tax reduction

I can certainly see where an income tax reduction could help an economy. That's more money in the hands of consumers who will likely spend it, but these tax cuts are too often offtset by cuts that hurt people. That's not a good trade-off.

And if any cuts proposed are not from waste, I'll be happy to agree with you.

A politician looking out for 100% of the citizens? What a concept.

Gearing up for 2016?

It makes no sense

Christie has been on an austerity campaign for two years. He has been telling everyone to suck it up, make sacrifices and settle for less. What this means is our schools and local communities have had to provide services that used to be funded by the state

All this accomplishes is to tell people to suck it up so that he can give further tax breaks to millionaires

yeah... only the rich will get cuts

Oh yes....the old Republican standby

Tax Cuts went to everyone. So the average taxpayer sees a $100 reduction in his bill while the wealthy see a $100,000 reduction. Meanwhile, our schools have been cut to the bone, infrastructure improvements have been canceled, state parks are slashed, social services are eliminated

But Christies rich friends see a huge tax cut

Yep, there it is. More BS from the left. Christie is trying to force government to stop wasting money. God forbid politicians learn to spend prudently. We have small communties with oversized police forces and way to maney school districts.
Hawaii has one school district. NJ has around 600.

I thought Republicans were for local control of educational decisions. Isn't that why they want to eliminate the Dept of Education?

All this does is reduce NJ's ability to provide necessary services.

Christie claims he eliminated waste. All he did was cut funding to local communities and schools so that they would have to make up the difference.

NJ residents have to makeup for state cuts in funding so that Christie can give tax breaks to his buddies

State vs. Federal control.
What we have in NJ is nuts. 600 districts each with a superintendent and countless administrators. We are spending about $15,000.00 per kid yet most of that money never reaches the classroom. But all the dems and libs want to do is increase spending not fixing the real problems. We have tried their way for thirty years and the results are lously. At the least the quality of education has remained the same. In a lot of cases it has actually gotten worse. And then you have what were once called the Abbot districts. Sink holes just sucking the money from the tax payers.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/29/nyregion/nj-school-budgets-pass-in-80-percent-of-districts.html

Faced with modest tax increases and fewer program cuts, New Jersey voters approved 80 percent of school budgets this week in an election that was largely free of last year’s turmoil.

In all, 430 of the 538 school budgets on the ballot Wednesday passed in the first test of a statewide cap on property taxes pushed through by Gov. Chris Christie.

Voters also approved separate ballot questions in 8 of 11 districts to raise additional tax revenue for, among other things, restoring freshman and middle school sports and having a full-day kindergarten.

Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for the governor, said Thursday that the results of this week’s elections showed that the old ways of taxing and spending were over and that the public wanted fiscal controls in place. “What we take away from the result is that the new cap worked as intended,” Mr. Drewniak said, “keeping local spending under control and predictable.”

“Everyone had a sense that there was something in the budget for them, whether it was tax relief, or programs for students, or professional development for teachers,” Richard O’Malley, the Edison superintendent, said.

New Jersey State Parks Funding 2011 | New York-New Jersey Trail Conference
The Trail Conference is pleased that the budget proposal for 2012 announced on Feb. 15 by Gov. Chris Christie does not include new cuts to parks operating budgets.
The budget proposal put forward by Gov. Chris Christie on February 15, provides a modest increase in funds for the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), calls for an increase in parks and forestry appropriations and continues funding for several programs charged with protecting the state’s natural resources.

In addition, $6.2 million in funding for the operations of the State’s parks and forests is being restored from the state’s general fund, assuring that all state parks will remain open. Many of the 54 state parks have been operating with critically low staff levels, which the Governor has proposed increasing to better serve the more than 17 million visitors who make use of these sites annually. Capital development projects required to improve facilities at state parks would be allocated $2.6 million in Gov. Christie’s budget, helping to assure that visitors can use them safely and enjoyably.

N.J. grants more than $14M for statewide infrastructure improvements | NJ.com
The state will dole out 95 grants to municipalities, counties and airports to perform $14.65 million in road projects.
“The funding we are announcing today will enable local governments like South Plainfield to move forward with high-priority improvement projects and safety initiatives without putting pressure on local property taxes,” said Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno said in a statement. “By investing in our infrastructure and ensuring the health of our transportation assets, we will support New Jersey’s continued economic growth, encourage additional business attraction and create more jobs in cities and towns across the Garden State.”

so, by 'all Republicans', you meant 'all republican candidates'.

And naturally, since all Democrats approve of everything Obama does, that means that all republicans approve of everything all republican candidates do... right?

They say, the more stress you have the more you become fatter as a person. Looking at him as a fat man before he became Governor, and he is a Governor. How much more fatter would he be if he was say the Vice President. Not sure after four years, anyone makes pant sizes for him.
